بعد رفضه اللعب لنادي الاتحاد قبل موسمين، أبدى الإسباني سيرخيو راموس رغبته في خوض تجربة احترافية في الدوري السعودي، بعد نهاية عقده مع نادي مونتيري المكسيكي، حيث وقع عقداً لمدة سنة واحدة بداية من فبراير 2025 حتى نهاية ديسمبر 2025. يذكر أن نادي الاتحاد أرسل عرضاً رسمياً لراموس صيف (2023–2024) بعد انتهاء عقده مع نادي إشبيلية، ولم تكتمل الصفقة بالرغم من تقديم الاتحاد عرضاً مغرياً. ويعتبر راموس أكثر اللاعبين تمثيلاً لمنتخب إسبانيا، حيث خاض 180 مباراة دولية، وكانت بدايته من نادي إشبيلية مع فرق الناشئين، ثم الفريق الأول عام 2004 قبل أن ينتقل إلى ريال مدريد (2005–2021)، وأصبح من أهم لاعبيه وقائده على مر سنوات طويلة، خاض خلالها 671 مباراة مع الريال وسجل أكثر من 100 هدف، وهو رقم استثنائي لمدافع، وفاز بـ22 لقباً مع الريال تشمل 5 ألقاب في الدوري الإسباني، و4 ألقاب في دوري أبطال أوروبا، بعدها انتقل إلى باريس سان جيرمان (2021–2023) وتوج معه بدرع الدوري.
