تستضيف الرياض النسخة الثانية من البطولة الآسيوية للاكروس، التي ينظمها الاتحاد السعودي للاكروس، بمشاركة (4) منتخبات هي، العراق، وباكستان، والهند، إلى جانب «المستضيف» المنتخب السعودي. وتُقام منافسات البطولة خلال الفترة من 1 إلى 5 فبراير 2026، في استاد كلية التقنية بالرياض، إذ اكتملت الاستعدادات التنظيمية والفنية بهدف إلى إخراج البطولة بصورة تعكس تطور القطاع الرياضي في المملكة. وأوضح الرئيس التنفيذي للاتحاد السعودي للاكروس فهد العريفي، أن استضافة المملكة للبطولة تأتي امتداداً للدعم الكبير الذي يحظى به القطاع الرياضي، وانسجاماً مع مستهدفات رؤية المملكة 2030 الهادفة إلى تنويع الألعاب الرياضية، وتوسيع قاعدة الممارسين، واستقطاب البطولات القارية والدولية. وقال العريفي: «نؤمن أن الرياضة جسر للتواصل الإنساني قبل أن تكون منافسة، وهذه البطولة تمثل مساحة للتلاقي بين الشباب الآسيوي، وتبادل الخبرات، وبناء علاقات إنسانية تتجاوز حدود الملعب، وتسهم في ترسيخ قيم الاحترام والتعاون بين المنتخبات المشاركة». وأشار إلى أن البطولة تمثل محطة مهمة في مسيرة تطوير رياضة اللاكروس في المملكة والمنطقة، وتعكس الجهود المبذولة لبناء منظومة رياضية شاملة تدعم الألعاب الجماعية وتوفر بيئة تنافسية تسهم في اكتشاف المواهب وصقلها. وتُعد لعبة اللاكروس من أقدم الألعاب الجماعية في العالم، إذ تعود جذورها إلى أمريكا الشمالية، وتتميز بإيقاعها السريع واعتمادها على المهارة واللياقة العالية والعمل الجماعي، وتشهد في السنوات الأخيرة انتشاراً متزايداً على المستوى الآسيوي، مع توسع قاعدة ممارسيها وتنامي الاهتمام بتنظيم بطولات إقليمية وقارية. ويأتي تنظيم البطولة الآسيوية للاكروس في نسختها الثانية تأكيداً على الدور المتنامي للمملكة في دعم وتطوير الألعاب الرياضية المختلفة، وترسيخ مكانتها كمركز إقليمي لاستضافة البطولات الرياضية، وتعزيز الحضور الرياضي السعودي في المحافل الآسيوية والدولية. Riyadh is hosting the second edition of the Asian Lacrosse Championship, organized by the Saudi Lacrosse Federation, with the participation of (4) teams: Iraq, Pakistan, India, along with the "host" Saudi team. The championship competitions will take place from February 1 to 5, 2026, at the Technical College Stadium in Riyadh, where organizational and technical preparations have been completed with the aim of presenting the championship in a way that reflects the development of the sports sector in the Kingdom. The CEO of the Saudi Lacrosse Federation, Fahd Al-Arefi, explained that the Kingdom's hosting of the championship is an extension of the significant support received by the sports sector, and aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 aimed at diversifying sports, expanding the base of practitioners, and attracting continental and international championships. Al-Arefi stated: "We believe that sports are a bridge for human communication before being a competition, and this championship represents a space for meeting among Asian youth, exchanging experiences, and building human relationships that transcend the boundaries of the field, contributing to the establishment of values of respect and cooperation among the participating teams." He pointed out that the championship represents an important milestone in the journey of developing lacrosse in the Kingdom and the region, reflecting the efforts made to build a comprehensive sports system that supports team sports and provides a competitive environment that contributes to discovering and honing talents. Lacrosse is considered one of the oldest team sports in the world, with its roots tracing back to North America. It is characterized by its fast pace, reliance on skill and high fitness, and teamwork. In recent years, it has seen increasing popularity at the Asian level, with a growing base of practitioners and rising interest in organizing regional and continental championships. The organization of the second edition of the Asian Lacrosse Championship confirms the Kingdom's growing role in supporting and developing various sports, establishing its position as a regional hub for hosting sports championships, and enhancing the Saudi sports presence in Asian and international forums.
