أعلن نادي النجمة إنهاء العلاقة التعاقدية مع المدير الفني للفريق الأول لكرة القدم، البرتغالي ماريو سيلفا وطاقمه التدريبي، مقدّماً شكره وتقديره على الجهود التي بذلها خلال فترة إشرافه على الفريق، ومتمنياً له التوفيق في مسيرته التدريبية القادمة. وفي السياق ذاته، كشفت إدارة النادي عن التعاقد مع المدرب البريطاني نيستور إل مايسترو، لقيادة الفريق الأول لكرة القدم خلال المرحلة القادمة، في خطوة تهدف إلى تصحيح المسار وتحسين نتائج الفريق في دوري روشن السعودي للمحترفين. وكان المدرب المقال ماريو سيلفا قد تولى تدريب النجمة في الموسم الماضي، ونجح في قيادة الفريق للصعود من دوري «يلو» لأندية الدرجة الأولى إلى دوري روشن للمحترفين، إلا أن نتائج الفريق هذا الموسم لم تكن على مستوى الطموحات، إذ قاد الفريق في 22 مباراة، حقق خلالها فوزاً وحيداً جاء في بطولة كأس الملك أمام ضمك، إلى جانب 5 تعادلات و16 خسارة، دون تحقيق أي انتصار في منافسات الدوري. ويملك المدرب الجديد نيستور إل مايسترو تجربة سابقة في الكرة السعودية، إذ سبق له تدريب التعاون خلال الفترة من 2020 إلى 2022، وقاد الفريق في 12 مباراة، حقق خلالها 6 انتصارات، وتعادلاً واحداً، مقابل 5 خسائر. In the same context, the club management revealed the signing of British coach Nestor El Maestro to lead the first football team during the upcoming phase, in a move aimed at correcting the course and improving the team's results in the Roshan Saudi Professional League. The dismissed coach Mario Silva had taken charge of Al-Najma last season and succeeded in leading the team to ascend from the "Yellow" League of the first division to the Roshan Professional League. However, the team's results this season did not meet expectations, as he led the team in 22 matches, achieving only one victory, which came in the King’s Cup against Damak, along with 5 draws and 16 losses, without securing any wins in the league competitions.
