دعا الرئيس اللبناني جوزيف عون، اليوم (الإثنين) الولايات المتحدة إلى الضغط على إسرائيل لوقف اعتداءاتها والانسحاب من الأراضي اللبنانية، مؤكداً تصميم بلاده على استكمال نشر الجيش بالجنوب حتى الحدود الدولية.

وعزا عون خلال استقباله السيناتور الأمريكية إليسا سلوتكين، أسباب تعذر استكمال انتشار الجيش اللبناني حتى الحدود إلى استمرار الاحتلال الإسرائيلي، مشدداً على ضرورة مساعدة الجيش اللبناني بالعتاد اللازم ليتمكن من تنفيذ المهمات الملقاة على عاتقه، ليس في الجنوب فحسب بل على كل الأراضي اللبنانية.

وأوضحت وكالة الأنباء اللبنانية أن اللقاء تناول العلاقات اللبنانية-السورية، والأوضاع الداخلية، ومراحل تنفيذ قرار حصرية السلاح بيد الدولة اللبنانية، واستعدادات لبنان للتوصل إلى تثبيت الاستقرار في الجنوب، مركزاً على ضرورة تفعيل المفاوضات للوصول إلى هذه الغاية.

في غضون ذلك، أفادت وسائل إعلام لبنانية بأن قائد الجيش رودولف هيكل، حدد مهلة زمنية تراوح بين 4 و8 أشهر قابلة للتمديد لحصر السلاح في منطقة شمال الليطاني، خلال تقديم قائد الجيش تقريراً إلى مجلس الوزراء، اليوم، حول تطورات خطة حصر السلاح بيد الدولة.

وكان الجيش اللبناني قد قال الشهر الماضي إن خطته لحصر السلاح بيد الدولة دخلت مرحلة متقدمة بعد تحقيق أهداف المرحلة الأولى بشكل فعال وملموس على الأرض، مشيراً إلى أن الاعتداءات والانتهاكات الإسرائيلية تنعكس سلباً على إنجاز المهمات المطلوبة.

The Lebanese President Joseph Aoun called on the United States today (Monday) to pressure Israel to stop its assaults and withdraw from Lebanese territory, reaffirming his country's determination to continue deploying the army in the south up to the international borders.

Aoun attributed the inability to complete the deployment of the Lebanese army to the borders to the ongoing Israeli occupation during his meeting with U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin, emphasizing the need to assist the Lebanese army with the necessary equipment so that it can carry out the tasks assigned to it, not only in the south but throughout all Lebanese territory.

The Lebanese news agency clarified that the meeting addressed Lebanese-Syrian relations, internal situations, the stages of implementing the decision to restrict weapons to the Lebanese state, and Lebanon's preparations to stabilize the situation in the south, focusing on the necessity of activating negotiations to achieve this goal.

Meanwhile, Lebanese media reported that Army Commander Rudolf Haikal set a time frame ranging from 4 to 8 months, extendable, to restrict weapons in the area north of the Litani River, during a presentation of a report to the Cabinet today regarding the developments of the plan to confine weapons to the state.

The Lebanese army had stated last month that its plan to restrict weapons to the state had entered an advanced stage after effectively and tangibly achieving the goals of the first phase on the ground, noting that Israeli assaults and violations negatively impact the completion of the required tasks.
