أعلن المتحدث باسم الكرملين دميتري بيسكوف أن روسيا لا ترى جدوى من مشاركة الأوروبيين في المفاوضات حول إنهاء الحرب في أوكرانيا. وقال في تصريحات صحفية «لا يمكن للأوروبيين المساهمة في المفاوضات في ظل مواقفهم الحالية»، معتبراً أن مواقف العديد من العواصم الأوروبية تساهم أكثر في استمرار الحرب منها في تعزيز عملية السلام، بحسب «تاس». وأكد بيسكوف أن مشاركة أوروبا في عملية التفاوض الخاصة بأوكرانيا لن تكون مفيدة. ويرى «الكرملين» أن الدول الأوروبية طرف في النزاع وليست وسيطاً محايداً، بسبب دعمها العسكري والمالي الواسع لكييف وفرضها عقوبات على موسكو. وحتى الآن لم تتوصل المفاوضات التي رعتها الولايات المتحدة في جنيف مطلع هذا الأسبوع إلى إحراز أي تقدم في شأن مسألة الأراضي التي تشكل بنداً أساسياً في أي اتفاق لإنهاء الحرب. وكان المبعوث الأمريكي ستيف ويتكوف، قال إن المقترحات الأمريكية التي عُرضت على الجانبين الأوكراني والروسي في محادثات جنيف الهادفة إلى إنهاء النزاع، ستُقرب الطرفين خلال الأسابيع الثلاثة القادمة، وربما تسفر عن قمة بين الرئيسين الروسي فلاديمير بوتين والأوكراني زيلينسكي. وأضاف ويتكوف في مقابلة مع قناة «فوكس نيوز»: «نأمل أن تقرّب المقترحات التي وضعناها على الطاولة مواقف الطرفين خلال الأسابيع الثلاثة القادمة، وربما تسفر حتى عن قمة بين زيلينسكي وبوتين». ولم يستبعد أن ينتهي الأمر باجتماع ثلاثي في مرحلة ما مع الرئيس دونالد ترمب «أعتقد أن ترمب لا يريد عقد اجتماع إلا إذا شعر أنه قادر على إتمام الأمر وتحقيق أفضل نتيجة، وهو يمتلك بشكل فريد القدرة على القيام بذلك، لذا نأمل أن تسمعوا أخباراً جيدة في الأسابيع القادمة». The spokesperson for the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, announced that Russia sees no benefit in the participation of Europeans in the negotiations to end the war in Ukraine. He stated in press remarks, "Europeans cannot contribute to the negotiations under their current positions," considering that the stances of many European capitals contribute more to the continuation of the war than to enhancing the peace process, according to "TASS." Peskov confirmed that Europe's participation in the negotiation process regarding Ukraine would not be beneficial. The "Kremlin" views European countries as parties to the conflict rather than neutral mediators, due to their extensive military and financial support for Kyiv and the sanctions imposed on Moscow. So far, the negotiations facilitated by the United States in Geneva earlier this week have not made any progress regarding the territorial issues, which are a key point in any agreement to end the war. U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff stated that the American proposals presented to both the Ukrainian and Russian sides in the Geneva talks aimed at ending the conflict would bring the two sides closer together in the coming three weeks, and may even result in a summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Zelensky. Witkoff added in an interview with "Fox News": "We hope that the proposals we have put on the table will bring the positions of both sides closer together in the coming three weeks, and may even lead to a summit between Zelensky and Putin." He did not rule out the possibility of a three-way meeting at some point with President Donald Trump, stating, "I believe Trump does not want to hold a meeting unless he feels he can finalize the matter and achieve the best outcome, and he uniquely has the ability to do so, so we hope you will hear good news in the coming weeks."
