أعلن خوان رومان ريكيلمي، رئيس نادي بوكا جونيورز الأرجنتيني لكرة القدم، عن مشروع لزيادة سعة ملعب «لا بومبونيرا» الأسطوري من 57 ألف متفرج حالياً إلى 80 ألفاً.

وقال صانع ألعاب الفريق السابق، في تصريح للموقع الرسمي للنادي، أمس (الجمعة) بعد كشفه عن منح تصريح أولي من شركة «فيروسور» المسؤولة عن خط السكك الحديد الذي يمر على بعد أمتار قليلة من ملعب بوكا: «هذه هي المرة الأولى التي أشعر فيها بأننا على وشك تحقيق حلم بوستيروس (جماهير بوكا)، وهو توسيع ملعبنا».

وسيشمل تجديد «لا بومبونيرا» بناء مدرج رابع علوي ومنطقتين جديدتين للمدرجات ستحلان محل موقع المقصورات الحالي الذي سيتم هدمه، إضافة إلى تركيب سقف جزئي فوق بعض المدرجات.

كما يتضمن مشروع التوسعة بناء أربعة أبراج مزودة بمصاعد لنقل المشجعين إلى الحلقة الدائرية الرابعة المستقبلية، ولذلك يجب الحصول على تصريح بناء من شركة السكك الحديد المجاورة للملعب، وكذلك من اللجنة الوطنية لتنظيم النقل.

وأضاف ريكيلمي مهاجماً مشاريع منافسيه في النادي: «لن نتحرك قيد أنملة، خلافاً لما قالته المعارضة التي خططت لبناء الملعب على بعد 100 متر من هنا. لا يمكن نقل لا بومبونيرا من مكانه. يجب ألا نكذب على الجماهير».

وقبل انتخابه رئيساً للنادي نهاية 2023 كان ريكيلمي قد طرح إمكانية التفاوض مع سكان المنطقة المحيطة بالملعب لشراء المنازل الواقعة خلف المقصورات من أجل بناء مدرج جديد هناك، لكنه أوضح أخيراً أن «بين 15 و20 منزلا مصنّفاً ضمن التراث العمراني لمدينة بوينوس أيرس»، ما يجعل أي تدخل أو توسعة في الجهة الجنوبية للملعب «أمراً مستحيلاً».

بدوره أعلن الغريم التقليدي ريفر بلايت، في نهاية يناير، أن ملعبه التاريخي «مونومنتال» سيُرفع عدد مقاعده من 85 ألفاً إلى 101 ألف، مع إضافة سقف أيضاً، بحلول 2029.

Juan Román Riquelme, the president of the Argentine football club Boca Juniors, announced a project to increase the capacity of the legendary "La Bombonera" stadium from its current 57,000 spectators to 80,000.

In a statement to the club's official website yesterday (Friday), after revealing that an initial permit had been granted by the company "Ferrosur," which is responsible for the railway line that runs just a few meters from Boca's stadium, the former playmaker said: "This is the first time I feel we are on the verge of fulfilling the dream of the 'Bosteros' (Boca fans), which is to expand our stadium."

The renovation of "La Bombonera" will include the construction of a fourth upper tier and two new seating areas that will replace the current box seats, which will be demolished, in addition to installing a partial roof over some of the stands.

The expansion project also includes building four towers equipped with elevators to transport fans to the future fourth circular tier, and therefore a building permit must be obtained from the railway company adjacent to the stadium, as well as from the national transport regulatory committee.

Riquelme added, attacking the projects of his rivals in the club: "We will not move an inch, contrary to what the opposition said, which planned to build the stadium 100 meters away from here. La Bombonera cannot be moved from its place. We must not lie to the fans."

Before being elected president of the club at the end of 2023, Riquelme had suggested the possibility of negotiating with the residents of the area surrounding the stadium to buy the houses located behind the boxes in order to build a new stand there, but he finally clarified that "between 15 and 20 houses are classified as part of the architectural heritage of Buenos Aires," making any intervention or expansion on the southern side of the stadium "impossible."

For its part, traditional rival River Plate announced at the end of January that its historic "Monumental" stadium will increase its seating capacity from 85,000 to 101,000, with a roof also being added, by 2029.
