كشفت وسائل إعلام غربية اليوم (الثلاثاء) استهداف طائرة مسيرة ملغومة السفارة الأمريكية في بغداد وسماع دوي انفجار في محيطها.
وقالت مصادر أمنية لـ«رويترز» إن 3 طائرات مسيرة استهدفت منشأة دبلوماسية أمريكية قرب مطار بغداد، بينما جرى تفعيل منظومات الدفاع الجوي سي-رام.
وقال شهود عيان إن الدخان شوهد يتصاعد من محيط السفارة الأمريكية في بغداد، فيما قال مصدر أمني آخر إن الهجوم تزامن مع هجوم أيضاً على بغداد.
ولم يوضح المصدر ما إذا كانت المسيّرة قد سقطت في أو خارج حرم السفارة التي تمتد على مساحة شاسعة، وتقع في المنطقة الخضراء، وإلى جوارها العديد من البعثات الدبلوماسية والمقرات الحكومية.
في حين قالت مصادر أمنية لوكالة «فرانس برس» إن صواريخ كاتيوشا استهدفت سفارة واشنطن في بغداد، مشيرة إلى تفعيل الدفاعات الجوية المضادة للطائرات وإطلاق صفارات الإنذار.
وكانت وسائل إعلام عربية نقلت عن مصدر أمني عراقي قوله: إن قصفاً استهدف قاعدة حرير الأمريكية في أربيل.
واكتفى رئيس الوزراء العراقي محمد شياع السوداني بإدانة تكرر استهداف ما وصفها بـ«الجماعات الخارجة عن القانون» مقر السفارة الأمريكية في العاصمة بغداد مساء اليوم، ووصف الهجوم بالعمل الإجرامي المدان والمرفوض من قبل الدولة.
من جهة أخرى، أعلنت وزارة الدفاع القطرية اليوم التصدي إلى 9 صواريخ باليستية، وعدد من الطائرات المسيّرة الإيرانية.
Western media revealed today (Tuesday) that a drone laden with explosives targeted the American embassy in Baghdad, with an explosion heard in its vicinity.
Security sources told Reuters that 3 drones targeted an American diplomatic facility near Baghdad Airport, while C-RAM air defense systems were activated.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing smoke rising from the area around the American embassy in Baghdad, while another security source indicated that the attack coincided with another assault on Baghdad.
The source did not clarify whether the drone fell inside or outside the embassy grounds, which cover a vast area and are located in the Green Zone, adjacent to many diplomatic missions and government headquarters.
Meanwhile, security sources told AFP that Katyusha rockets targeted the Washington embassy in Baghdad, noting the activation of anti-aircraft defenses and the sounding of alarm sirens.
Arab media reported that an Iraqi security source stated that shelling targeted the American base in Harir, Erbil.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani limited his response to condemning the repeated targeting of what he described as "outlaw groups" at the American embassy in the capital Baghdad this evening, labeling the attack as a condemned and rejected criminal act by the state.
On another note, the Qatari Ministry of Defense announced today that it intercepted 9 ballistic missiles and several Iranian drones.
