استغلّ رئيس الوزراء الأسترالي أنتوني ألبانيزي خطاباً وطنياً نادراً لحث الأمة على خفض استخدام الوقود عن طريق اللجوء إلى المواصلات العامة والاستعداد لاحتمالية مواجهة أوقات عصيبة.
وقال ألبانيزي لدى توضيحه رد فعل الحكومة على حرب إيران، التي عطلت إمدادات الطاقة وتسببت في ارتفاع أسعار النفط: «إذا كان يمكنكم اللجوء إلى استقلال القطار أو الحافلة أو الترام للعمل، على مدار الأسابيع القادمة، فافعلوا ذلك».
تنسيق الخطوات
وأضاف ألبانيزي: «الانضباط الطوعي يبني احتياطياتنا ويوفر الوقود للأشخاص الذين ليس لديهم خيار سوى قيادة سياراتهم».
وأفاد بقوله: «استمتعوا بعيد الفصح». ودعاهم إلى عدم شراء وقود أكثر من الاحتياج.
وحذر رئيس الوزراء في الخطاب الذي بثه التلفزيون الوطني والإذاعات من أن «الأشهر القادمة قد لا تكون سهلة»، وطلب من الأستراليين الاستعداد بحيث «إذا ساء الوضع العالمي وتعطلت إمداداتنا بشدة على المدى الطويل، نصبح قادرين على تنسيق الخطوات القادمة معاً».
The Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese took advantage of a rare national address to urge the nation to reduce fuel usage by turning to public transport and preparing for the possibility of facing tough times.
Albanese stated while explaining the government's response to the war in Iran, which disrupted energy supplies and caused oil prices to rise: "If you can rely on train, bus, or tram independence for work over the coming weeks, please do so."
Coordinating Steps
Albanese added: "Voluntary discipline builds our reserves and provides fuel for those who have no choice but to drive their cars."
He remarked: "Enjoy Easter." He urged them not to buy more fuel than necessary.
The Prime Minister warned in the address broadcast by national television and radio that "the coming months may not be easy," and asked Australians to prepare so that "if the global situation worsens and our supplies are severely disrupted in the long term, we can coordinate the next steps together."
