تعقد الحكومة الإيرلندية اجتماعا طارئاً؛ للبحث في تدابير لاحتواء ارتفاع أسعار المحروقات بفعل الحرب في الشرق الأوسط.
وتسعى حكومة مايكل مارتن إلى تهدئة التوتّرات بعد أيام من الاحتجاجات التي شارك فيها مزارعون وعاملون في قطاع النقل البري، احتجاجاً على ارتفاع أسعار الوقود بسبب الحرب وإغلاق مضيق هرمز.
واستهدفت الاحتجاجات مصفاة النفط في كورك (جنوب)، وهي الوحيدة في إيرلندا، فضلاً عن مخازن للوقود في الشرق والجنوب توفّر نصف إمدادات البلاد.
خفض الضرائب
وبحسب وسائل الإعلام الإيرلندية، قد تقرّ الحكومة تمديد آلية خفض الضرائب على البنزين والديزل التي اعتمدت في أواخر مارس الماضي، ومن المفترض أن تبقى سارية حتى نهاية مايو القادم.
ويندرج هذا التدبير في سياق خطّة أوسع بقيمة 250 مليون يورو هدفها «الحدّ من أسوأ تداعيات صدمة الأسعار» الناجمة عن الحرب، بحسب رئيس الحكومة.
واجتمع وزراء أمس، بممثّلين عن قطاعات النقل والزراعة والصيد للاستماع إلى مطالبهم.
تحديات كبيرة
وفي ختام الاجتماع، أعلن هاريس أن الحكومة تعتزم التعاون مع كلّ قطاع على حدة في مسعى إلى تحقيق تقدّم فعلي في وجه بعض التحدّيات الكبيرة جدّاً التي يواجهها الشعب.
وشدّد على ضرورة أن يتمكّن المواطنون من ممارسة حقوقهم ومزاولة أعمالهم بحرّية، فضلاً عن أهميّة ضمان حسن سير سلاسل الإمداد الأساسية، لا سيّما في ما يخصّ المحروقات.

According to Irish media, the government may approve an extension of the tax reduction mechanism on gasoline and diesel that was adopted in late March, which is supposed to remain in effect until the end of May.
This measure is part of a broader plan worth 250 million euros aimed at "mitigating the worst effects of the price shock" resulting from the war, according to the Prime Minister.
Ministers met yesterday with representatives from the transport, agriculture, and fishing sectors to hear their demands.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Harris announced that the government intends to collaborate with each sector individually in an effort to make actual progress in addressing some of the very significant challenges facing the public.
He emphasized the necessity for citizens to be able to exercise their rights and conduct their businesses freely, as well as the importance of ensuring the smooth operation of essential supply chains, particularly regarding fuels.
