في حين أعلن رئيس الأركان الإسرائيلي، إيال زامير، الموافقة على خطط لاستمرار الحرب في إيران ولبنان، أكد رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو اليوم (الأربعاء)، أن الجيش على وشك اجتياح منطقة بنت جبيل، في ظل تزايد الضغوط من أجل التوصل إلى وقف لإطلاق النار بين إسرائيل ولبنان.
وأوضح نتنياهو في بيان أنه أصدر تعليمات للجيش بمواصلة تعزيز المنطقة الأمنية في جنوب لبنان، وضرب «حزب الله».
وحول محادثات إيران، قال نتنياهو إن الولايات المتحدة تبقي إسرائيل على اطلاع بالمستجدات وإن الجانبين على اتفاق، مضيفاً: «نحن مستعدون لأي سيناريو في حال فشل وقف إطلاق النار مع إيران».
من جهته قال رئيس الأركان الإسرائيلي، إيال زامير: «لن نسمح لإيران بتحقيق إنجازات في الملف النووي، وفي هرمز، وفي باقي القضايا المطروحة، نحن في حالة تأهب عالية جداً، والأهداف جاهزة، ونحن قادرون على هجوم قوي بشكل فوري».
وأشار إلى أن الجيش الإسرائيلي يعمق الضربات الموجهة لـ«حزب الله» على عدة محاور، معتبراً مقتل أكثر من 1700 قتيل منذ بداية المعركة «ضربة قاسية للحزب».
ولفت إلى العمليات مستمرة في مدينة بنت جبيل جنوب لبنان مشدداً بالقول: «لقد أوعزت بأن تتحول كل المنطقة جنوباً حتى نهر الليطاني إلى منطقة قتل للحزب».
While Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir announced approval for plans to continue the war in Iran and Lebanon, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed today (Wednesday) that the army is on the verge of invading the area of Bent Jbeil, amid increasing pressure for a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.
Netanyahu clarified in a statement that he has instructed the army to continue reinforcing the security area in southern Lebanon and to strike at "Hezbollah."
Regarding talks with Iran, Netanyahu stated that the United States keeps Israel informed of developments and that both sides are in agreement, adding: "we are prepared for any scenario in case the ceasefire with Iran fails."
For his part, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir said: "We will not allow Iran to achieve successes in the nuclear file, in Hormuz, or in other issues at hand. We are in a very high state of alert, the targets are ready, and we are capable of a strong immediate attack."
He noted that the Israeli army is intensifying strikes against "Hezbollah" on several fronts, considering the death of more than 1,700 casualties since the beginning of the battle a "severe blow to the party."
He emphasized that operations are ongoing in the city of Bent Jbeil in southern Lebanon, stressing: "I have instructed that the entire area south to the Litani River be turned into a killing zone for the party."
