اتهم مسؤولون ألمان روسيا بالوقوف وراء حملة هجمات إلكترونية استهدفت نواباً ومسؤولين حكوميين رفيعي المستوى يستخدمون تطبيق Signal. وبحسب مصدر حكومي، ترجّح الحكومة الفدرالية أن الهجوم نُفّذ عبر حملة تصيّد إلكتروني يُحتمل أنها مُدارة من جهات مرتبطة بروسيا.
تعتمد آلية الهجوم على إرسال رسائل تبدو وكأنها صادرة من خدمة التطبيق نفسها، وتطلب من المستخدمين إدخال بيانات حساسة. هذه البيانات تُستغل لاحقاً لاختراق الحسابات والوصول إلى محتوى المحادثات، بما في ذلك الرسائل الخاصة والوسائط والبيانات المرتبطة بالمجموعات.
حتى الآن، لم تكشف الحكومة الألمانية عن العدد الإجمالي للمتضررين. لكن تقارير إعلامية، من بينها مجلة Der Spiegel، تشير إلى احتمال اختراق ما لا يقل عن 300 حساب لشخصيات سياسية.
على الصعيد القضائي، فتح الادعاء العام تحقيقاً رسمياً في الواقعة، مع الاشتباه في استهداف نواب من عدة أحزاب، إضافة إلى مسؤولين حكوميين ودبلوماسيين وصحفيين. وتشمل قائمة المستهدفين شخصيات بارزة، من بينها رئيس البرلمان وقيادات في الحزب الديمقراطي المسيحي المرتبط بالمستشار Friedrich Merz.
تأتي هذه التطورات في سياق تصاعد ملحوظ للهجمات السيبرانية ضد ألمانيا منذ اندلاع الحرب في أوكرانيا عام 2022، حيث تُعد برلين من أبرز الداعمين العسكريين لكييف في أوروبا. كما تعيد هذه الحوادث إلى الواجهة سوابق اختراق كبرى، مثل الهجوم على شبكة البرلمان الألماني عام 2015، الذي طال أيضاً مكاتب المستشارة السابقة Angela Merkel. ورغم ذلك، تواصل موسكو نفي أي تورط مباشر في مثل هذه العمليات.

German officials have accused Russia of being behind a campaign of cyberattacks targeting high-ranking lawmakers and government officials using the Signal app. According to a government source, the federal government suspects that the attack was carried out through a phishing campaign likely managed by entities linked to Russia.
The mechanism of the attack relies on sending messages that appear to be from the app's service itself, asking users to input sensitive data. This data is later exploited to hack accounts and access conversation content, including private messages, media, and data related to groups.
So far, the German government has not disclosed the total number of affected individuals. However, media reports, including from Der Spiegel magazine, indicate that at least 300 accounts of political figures may have been compromised.
On the judicial front, the public prosecutor's office has opened an official investigation into the incident, suspecting that lawmakers from several parties, as well as government officials, diplomats, and journalists, were targeted. The list of targets includes prominent figures, such as the President of the Parliament and leaders in the Christian Democratic Union associated with Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
These developments come amid a notable increase in cyberattacks against Germany since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine in 2022, as Berlin is one of the leading military supporters of Kyiv in Europe. These incidents also bring to mind previous major breaches, such as the attack on the German Parliament's network in 2015, which also affected the offices of former Chancellor Angela Merkel. Nevertheless, Moscow continues to deny any direct involvement in such operations.
