The earthquake was recorded at 10:12 PM Coordinated Universal Time (1:12 AM Moscow time) about 124 kilometers north of the city of Messina. The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 240 kilometers, and there have been no reports of injuries or potential damage. A 6.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded last March in the Tyrrhenian Sea near the Italian city of Naples, and there were no reports of destruction or human casualties resulting from the earthquake.
