تعرضت إحدى أحدث طائرات بوينغ 787-9 التابعة لشركة لوفتهانزا لأضرار كبيرة بعد انهيار عجلة المقدمة أثناء توقفها عند بوابة المغادرة في مطار فرانكفورت الألماني، ما أدى إلى إلغاء رحلة كانت متجهة إلى مدينة لوس أنجلوس الأمريكية.
ووقعت الحادثة عند الساعة 12:45 ظهر الخميس بالتوقيت المحلي، بينما كانت الطائرة المسجلة بالرقم D-ABPQ متوقفة في الموقع A15 استعداداً لتشغيل الرحلة LH450، وقبل بدء صعود الركاب إلى متنها.
مقدمة الطائرة ترتطم بالأرض
وأظهرت مقاطع فيديو متداولة على منصات التواصل الاجتماعي لحظة تحرك عجلة المقدمة إلى الأمام كما لو كانت تنكمش إلى داخل هيكل الطائرة، قبل أن تهوي مقدمتها وترتطم بالأرض.
كما بدت أبواب حجرة عجلة المقدمة منفصلة أثناء الانهيار، فيما كان باب الشحن الأمامي الأيسر مفتوحاً ومتصلاً بمعدة تحميل بضائع يُعتقد أنها تعرضت للاصطدام خلال الحادثة. وأظهرت المشاهد أيضاً وجود جسرين على الأقل لصعود الركاب متصلين بالطائرة وقت وقوع الحادثة.
إصابات طفيفة ونقل إلى المستشفى
وأكدت لوفتهانزا أن الطائرة كانت خالية من الركاب، إذ اقتصر وجود الأشخاص على أفراد الطاقم والعاملين الأرضيين.
وأشارت الشركة إلى تعرض عدد من الأشخاص لإصابات طفيفة، ونُقل اثنان من أفراد طاقم الضيافة الجوية وعدد من موظفي الخدمات الأرضية إلى المستشفى لإجراء الفحوصات الطبية وتلقي العلاج.
وأضافت أن فرقاً فنية متخصصة باشرت فحص الطائرة، تمهيداً لنقلها إلى إحدى حظائر الصيانة بعد استكمال الموافقات اللازمة وإجراء تقييم شامل للأضرار.
طائرة جديدة في الأسطول
وتُعد الطائرة D-ABPQ من أحدث الطائرات المنضمة إلى أسطول لوفتهانزا عريض البدن، إذ تسلمتها الشركة في يناير 2026 ودخلت الخدمة التشغيلية في فبراير الماضي.
وتشغل لوفتهانزا حالياً 16 طائرة من طراز بوينغ 787-9، فيما نفذت الطائرة المتضررة 137 رحلة جوية فقط منذ دخولها الخدمة.
حادثة هيثرو تعود إلى الأذهان
ورغم أن التحقيقات لا تزال في مراحلها الأولى، إلا أن الحادثة أعادت التذكير بواقعة مشابهة تعرضت لها طائرة بوينغ 787-8 تابعة للخطوط الجوية البريطانية في مطار لندن هيثرو خلال يونيو 2021.
وكشفت التحقيقات حينها أن سبب الانهيار كان تركيب دبوس قفل عجلة المقدمة في موضع غير صحيح قبل إجراء اختبار تشغيل نظام الهبوط، ما أدى إلى فقدان تثبيت العجلة وانهيارها.
سجل من الحوادث المشابهة
ولم تكن تلك الواقعة الوحيدة، إذ سجلت طائرات أخرى من عائلة بوينغ 787 حالات انكماش غير مقصود لعجلة المقدمة، من بينها طائرة تابعة للخطوط الجوية الإثيوبية في أديس أبابا عام 2016، وأخرى كانت تخضع لاختبارات صيانة في ولاية واشنطن الأمريكية عام 2018.
ولا تزال الجهات المختصة وشركة لوفتهانزا بانتظار نتائج التحقيقات الفنية لتحديد السبب الدقيق وراء الحادثة الأخيرة، وما إذا كانت مرتبطة بخلل ميكانيكي أو بإجراءات الصيانة والتشغيل.
One of the latest Boeing 787-9 aircraft belonging to Lufthansa suffered significant damage after the nose wheel collapsed while it was parked at the departure gate at Frankfurt Airport in Germany, leading to the cancellation of a flight that was headed to Los Angeles, USA.
The incident occurred at 12:45 PM local time on Thursday, while the aircraft registered as D-ABPQ was stationary at location A15 in preparation for flight LH450, just before passengers were set to board.
The nose of the aircraft hits the ground
Videos circulating on social media showed the moment the nose wheel moved forward as if it were retracting into the aircraft's structure, before the nose dropped and hit the ground.
The doors of the nose wheel compartment also appeared to be detached during the collapse, while the left front cargo door was open and connected to a cargo loading device believed to have been impacted during the incident. The footage also showed at least two passenger boarding bridges connected to the aircraft at the time of the incident.
Minor injuries and hospital transfer
Lufthansa confirmed that the aircraft was empty of passengers, with only crew members and ground staff present.
The company noted that several individuals sustained minor injuries, and two flight attendants along with several ground service employees were taken to the hospital for medical checks and treatment.
It added that specialized technical teams began inspecting the aircraft, in preparation for its transfer to a maintenance hangar after obtaining the necessary approvals and conducting a comprehensive damage assessment.
A new aircraft in the fleet
The aircraft D-ABPQ is one of the latest additions to Lufthansa's wide-body fleet, having been delivered to the company in January 2026 and entering operational service last February.
Lufthansa currently operates 16 Boeing 787-9 aircraft, while the damaged aircraft has completed only 137 flights since entering service.
The Heathrow incident comes to mind
Although investigations are still in their early stages, the incident has recalled a similar occurrence involving a British Airways Boeing 787-8 at London Heathrow Airport in June 2021.
Investigations at that time revealed that the cause of the collapse was the installation of the nose wheel lock pin in an incorrect position before conducting a landing gear system operational test, which led to the wheel losing its attachment and collapsing.
A record of similar incidents
This was not the only incident, as other aircraft from the Boeing 787 family have recorded unintended retraction of the nose wheel, including an Ethiopian Airlines aircraft in Addis Ababa in 2016, and another undergoing maintenance tests in Washington State, USA, in 2018.
The relevant authorities and Lufthansa are still awaiting the results of the technical investigations to determine the exact cause of the recent incident, and whether it is related to a mechanical failure or to maintenance and operational procedures.
