تابع قناة عكاظ على الواتساب منذ الإنجاز التاريخي في مونديال الولايات المتحدة 1994 كان الجميع يعتقد أن الكرة السعودية تقف على أعتاب عصر ذهبي طويل، لكن الواقع كان مختلفاً، ست مشاركات تلت ذلك في أعوام 1998 و2002 و2006 و2018 و2022، ثم مونديال 2026، وجميعها انتهت بالخروج من دور المجموعات، وكأن الزمن توقف عند إنجاز 1994 ولم يتحرك بعده. بعد المشاركة المخيبة في كأس العالم 2002، صدر أمر ملكي كريم بتشكيل لجنة عليا برئاسة الأمير عبد المجيد بن عبدالعزيز -رحمه الله-، أمير منطقة مكة المكرمة آنذاك، لإعداد دراسة شاملة لتطوير الرياضة السعودية وفي مقدمتها كرة القدم، وقد أنجزت اللجنة أعمالها ورفعت توصياتها، لكن تلك الدراسة لم تتحول إلى مشروع وطني يُغيّر واقع الكرة السعودية. ومضى ما يقارب ربع قرن بينما ظل المنتخب الوطني يدور في الحلقة ذاتها، لم نشاهد مشروعاً حقيقياً لاكتشاف المواهب ولا عملاً مؤسسياً مستداماً لإعداد جيل ينافس عالمياً رغم الدعم الكبير من ولي العهد، وما تملكه المملكة من إمكانات مالية وبشرية هائلة. الكرة السعودية لا ينقصها المال ولا المنشآت ولا الدعم، ما ينقصها هو المشروع والقرار والإدارة التي تجعل المنتخب الوطني هو الأولوية القصوى، بعيداً عن ميول أو مجاملات أو حسابات ضيقة. ومن وجهة نظري، فإن المرحلة المقبلة تتطلب مراجعة شاملة تبدأ بتقييم الأداء، وإسناد المواقع التنفيذية والفنية إلى أصحاب الخبرة الحقيقية من أبناء اللعبة ممن يملكون سجلاً عملياً في الإدارة الرياضية وتطوير المواهب، مع ترسيخ مبدأ الكفاءة بعيداً عن أي اعتبارات أخرى. كما أن مستقبل المنتخب لن يُبنى داخل المدن الكبرى فقط بل في جميع المناطق التي تزخر بالمواهب الكروية، مثل جازان والأحساء والمدينة المنورة والحدود الشمالية وغيرها من مناطق المملكة. هذه المواهب تستحق أكاديميات متخصصة يُشرف عليها خبراء ومدربون مؤهلون تعمل وفق منهج علمي يمتد لسنوات لا وفق حلول مؤقتة. إن بناء منتخب يشرّف المملكة في كأس العالم لن يتحقق بتغيير مدرب كل فترة ولا بالحلول الوقتية السريعة، إنما ببناء منظومة تبدأ من الطفل الموهوب، مروراً بالأكاديمية ثم المنتخبات السنّية حتى يصل اللاعب إلى المنتخب الأول وهو مكتمل فنياً وذهنياً واحترافياً. لقد أثبتت رؤية المملكة أن الإنجازات الكبرى تبدأ بقرارات شجاعة ورؤية واضحة، واليوم، الكرة السعودية بحاجة إلى مشروع وطني جديد يضع المنتخب فوق الجميع، ويجعل شعار الوطن هو الأولوية لا الميول؛ لأن الجماهير لا تريد مشاركة شرفية جديدة بل تريد منتخباً ينافس ويصنع التاريخ ويعيد للكرة السعودية مكانتها بين كبار العالم. Since the historic achievement in the 1994 World Cup in the United States, everyone believed that Saudi football was on the brink of a long golden era, but the reality was different. Six participations followed in the years 1998, 2002, 2006, 2018, and 2022, and then the 2026 World Cup, all of which ended with elimination in the group stage, as if time had stopped at the achievement of 1994 and had not moved since. After the disappointing participation in the 2002 World Cup, a royal decree was issued to form a high committee headed by Prince Abdul Majid bin Abdulaziz - may God have mercy on him - the then Emir of the Makkah region, to prepare a comprehensive study for the development of Saudi sports, with football at the forefront. The committee completed its work and submitted its recommendations, but that study did not turn into a national project that would change the reality of Saudi football. Nearly a quarter of a century has passed while the national team has remained stuck in the same loop. We have not seen a real project to discover talents or a sustainable institutional effort to prepare a generation that competes globally, despite the significant support from the Crown Prince and the vast financial and human resources that the Kingdom possesses. Saudi football lacks neither money nor facilities nor support; what it lacks is the project, the decision, and the management that prioritizes the national team above all else, away from biases, flattery, or narrow calculations. In my opinion, the next phase requires a comprehensive review that begins with performance evaluation and assigning executive and technical positions to those with genuine experience from within the game, who have a practical record in sports management and talent development, while establishing the principle of competence away from any other considerations. Furthermore, the future of the national team will not be built only in major cities but in all regions rich in football talents, such as Jazan, Al-Ahsa, Madinah, the Northern Borders, and other regions of the Kingdom. These talents deserve specialized academies supervised by qualified experts and coaches working according to a scientific curriculum that extends for years, not temporary solutions. Building a team that honors the Kingdom in the World Cup will not be achieved by changing coaches every now and then or through quick temporary solutions, but rather by creating a system that starts with the talented child, passing through the academy and then the age-group teams until the player reaches the first team fully developed technically, mentally, and professionally. The Kingdom's Vision has proven that great achievements begin with courageous decisions and a clear vision. Today, Saudi football needs a new national project that places the national team above all, making the nation's emblem the priority, not personal biases; because the fans do not want another honorary participation but rather a team that competes, makes history, and restores Saudi football's status among the world's elite.
