وسجل تيليمانس هدف التعادل في الدقائق الأخيرة من الوقت الأصلي، قبل أن يضيف هدف الفوز من ركلة جزاء خلال الوقت الإضافي، ليقود المنتخب البلجيكي إلى انتصار مثير بنتيجة 3-2 والتأهل إلى دور الـ16.

وبهذا الإنجاز، انضم تيليمانس إلى برنارد فور هوف، الذي ظل اللاعب الوحيد الذي سجل هدفين لبلجيكا في مباراة بالأدوار الإقصائية من كأس العالم 1934، أمام منتخب ألمانيا، قبل أن يعادل لاعب الوسط البلجيكي تيليمانس هذا الرقم بعد 92 عاماً، ليخلد اسمه بين أصحاب أبرز الإنجازات الفردية في تاريخ المنتخب البلجيكي بالمونديال.

Yuri Tielemans achieved a remarkable milestone after becoming only the second player to score two goals for the Belgium national team in the knockout stages of the World Cup, following his standout performance against Senegal in the Round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup.

Tielemans scored the equalizer in the dying minutes of regular time, before adding the winning goal from a penalty during extra time, leading the Belgian team to a thrilling victory with a score of 3-2 and advancing to the Round of 16.

With this achievement, Tielemans joined Bernard Voorhoof, who remained the only player to score two goals for Belgium in a knockout match since the 1934 World Cup against Germany, before the Belgian midfielder Tielemans equaled this record after 92 years, etching his name among the holders of the most notable individual achievements in the history of the Belgian national team in the World Cup.
