ويهدف مقر القيادة الاستراتيجية إلى توحيد غرف العمليات والجهات السيادية داخل مركز قيادة مركزي، بما يسمح بتكامل قواعد البيانات، وسرعة تبادل المعلومات بين مختلف مؤسسات الدولة، بما يرفع كفاءة إدارة العمليات العسكرية والأزمات الوطنية.

وفي تصريحات لوسائل إعلام محلية، قال رئيس جهاز الاستطلاع السابق أستاذ العلوم الاستراتيجية اللواء نصر سالم إن «الأوكتاغون» يمثل مركز القيادة والسيطرة الرئيسي للقوات المسلحة المصرية، وقد صُمم لضمان استمرارية الاتصال بين مختلف القيادات والوحدات العسكرية في جميع الظروف.

In statements to local media, former reconnaissance chief and strategic sciences professor Major General Nasr Salem stated that "the Octagon" represents the main command and control center for the Egyptian armed forces, designed to ensure continuous communication between various military commands and units under all circumstances.
