أوقفت السلطات الأردنية الشاب أحمد الصقر (28 عامًا)، بعد الاشتباه بوجود صلة له بقضية مقتل المواطنة الأمريكية جايمي كارني في مدينة كيلارني الأيرلندية، عقب تعقب دخوله الأراضي الأردنية نهاية الأسبوع الماضي، في خطوة جاءت ضمن التعاون الأمنـي بين عمّان ودبلن.
وأبلغت مديرية الأمن العام الأردنية السلطات الأيرلندية رسميًا بواقعة التوقيف، فيما تتواصل التحقيقات لكشف تفاصيل القضية وملابساتها، دون الإعلان حتى الآن عن توجيه اتهامات جنائية رسمية بحق الصقر من الجانب الأيرلندي.
وبحسب المعلومات المتداولة، جاء توقيف الصقر بمبادرة أمنية أردنية، وليس استنادًا إلى مذكرة توقيف دولية أو طلب تسليم رسمي، في وقت لم تصدر فيه النيابة العامة الأيرلندية أي إجراءات قانونية لاستعادته أو إصدار مذكرة توقيف بحقه.
وتشير التحقيقات الأولية إلى أن الصقر غادر مدينة كيلارني فجر الثلاثاء الماضي، متجهًا بالحافلة إلى العاصمة دبلن، قبل أن يستقل رحلة جوية إلى مدينة إسطنبول التركية، ومنها انتقل لاحقًا إلى الأردن.
وكان الصقر يقيم في أحد مراكز إيواء طالبي الحماية الدولية في أيرلندا، بعد تقدمه بطلب لجوء عام 2024، إلا أن طلبه قوبل بالرفض، فيما كان ينتظر نتيجة طعن تقدم به على القرار.
وتعود القضية إلى مقتل الأمريكية جايمي كارني، البالغة من العمر 43 عامًا، داخل منزلها في مدينة كيلارني، حيث عُثر عليها متوفاة داخل غرفة النوم بعد تعرضها لإصابات بالغة، وفق نتائج التشريح الأولية.
وعثرت ابنتها البالغة 13 عامًا على جثمانها، فيما رجحت الشرطة الأيرلندية أن تكون الجريمة قد وقعت بين مساء الاثنين والساعات الأولى من صباح الثلاثاء.
وأكدت السلطات الأيرلندية أن الصقر كان برفقة الضحية في الليلة التي سبقت الحادثة، مشيرة إلى أن التحقيقات لا تزال مستمرة لتحديد كافة تفاصيل الواقعة ومسار الأحداث المرتبطة بها.
The Jordanian authorities have arrested a young man named Ahmad Al-Saqr (28 years old) after suspecting his connection to the murder of American citizen Jamie Carney in the Irish city of Killarney, following tracking his entry into Jordan at the end of last weekend, in a move that came as part of the security cooperation between Amman and Dublin.
The Jordanian Public Security Directorate officially informed the Irish authorities about the arrest, while investigations continue to uncover the details and circumstances of the case, without any official criminal charges being announced against Al-Saqr from the Irish side so far.
According to circulating information, Al-Saqr's arrest was initiated by Jordanian security, and was not based on an international arrest warrant or a formal extradition request, at a time when the Irish public prosecution has not issued any legal actions to retrieve him or issue an arrest warrant against him.
Initial investigations indicate that Al-Saqr left Killarney early last Tuesday, heading by bus to the capital Dublin, before taking a flight to Istanbul, Turkey, from where he later traveled to Jordan.
Al-Saqr had been residing in one of the international protection seeker shelters in Ireland after applying for asylum in 2024, but his application was rejected, while he was awaiting the outcome of an appeal he had filed against the decision.
The case dates back to the murder of American Jamie Carney, 43 years old, inside her home in Killarney, where she was found deceased in her bedroom after suffering severe injuries, according to preliminary autopsy results.
Her 13-year-old daughter discovered her body, while Irish police believe that the crime occurred between Monday evening and the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Irish authorities confirmed that Al-Saqr was with the victim on the night before the incident, noting that investigations are still ongoing to determine all the details of the incident and the sequence of events related to it.
