شهد بركان جبل سيميرو، أعلى قمة في جزيرة جاوة الإندونيسية، ثوراناً قوياً بعد ظهر الجمعة، أطلق سحباً كثيفة من الرماد البركاني والغازات الساخنة، مصحوبة بأنهاراً حارة من الغاز والرماد والصخور امتدت لمسافة حوالى 4 كيلومترات جنوب شرقي القمة، وفق مركز علم البراكين وتخفيف المخاطر الجيولوجية.
أعمدة رماد عالية
وأفادت التقارير الأولية أن عمود الرماد وصل إلى مئات عدة من الأمتار فوق القمة التي ترتفع 3,676 متراً فوق سطح البحر، مع استمرار النشاط البركاني على مدار اليوم.
سلسلة انفجارات مستمرة
ويأتي هذا الثوران بعد سلسلة طويلة من الانفجارات اليومية والأسبوعية، إذ سجّل البركان عشرات الثورات منذ بداية عام 2026، وشهد صباح الجمعة وحده نحو 8 انفجارات.
تحذيرات للمدنيين
وحافظ مركز علم البراكين على تصنيف البركان في المستوى الثالث من أصل 4 مستويات، مع تجديد التحذير للسكان بعدم الاقتراب من مجرى بيسوك كوبوكان لمسافة تصل إلى 13 كيلومتراً من القمة.
ونبهت السلطات إلى احتمال تدفّق الحمم وسحب حارة على طول الأنهار والأودية المتفرعة من القمة، خصوصاً في مناطق بيسوك كوبوكان وبيسوك بانج وبيسوك كيمبار، إضافة إلى الروافد الصغيرة المجاورة.
لا إصابات حتى الآن
وأعلنت السلطات الإندونيسية أنه لم يتم تسجيل أي إصابات أو أضرار مادية كبيرة حتى الآن، لكن مقاطعتي لومبانج ومالانج رفعتا درجة الاستعداد ونصحتا السكان بالبقاء في حالة تأهب قصوى.
بركان نشط منذ سنوات
يُعد سيميرو أحد أكثر البراكين نشاطاً في إندونيسيا، ويشهد مرحلة نشاط مستمرة منذ عام 2017 تقريباً، مع تصاعد ملحوظ في وتيرة الانفجارات خلال الأشهر الأخيرة من 2025 وبداية 2026.
Mount Semeru, the highest peak on the Indonesian island of Java, experienced a strong eruption on Friday afternoon, releasing dense clouds of volcanic ash and hot gases, accompanied by rivers of hot gas, ash, and rocks that extended about 4 kilometers southeast of the summit, according to the Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Center.
High Ash Columns
Initial reports indicated that the ash column reached several hundred meters above the summit, which stands at 3,676 meters above sea level, with volcanic activity continuing throughout the day.
Ongoing Series of Eruptions
This eruption follows a long series of daily and weekly explosions, as the volcano has recorded dozens of eruptions since the beginning of 2026, with about 8 eruptions occurring just on Friday morning.
Warnings for Civilians
The Volcanology Center maintained the volcano's alert status at level three out of four, renewing warnings for residents not to approach the Besuk Kobokan river within 13 kilometers of the summit.
Authorities warned of the potential for lava flows and hot clouds along the rivers and valleys branching from the summit, particularly in the Besuk Kobokan, Besuk Pang, and Besuk Kembar areas, as well as nearby smaller tributaries.
No Injuries Reported So Far
Indonesian authorities announced that no injuries or significant material damage have been reported so far, but the districts of Lumajang and Malang have raised their alert levels and advised residents to remain in a state of high readiness.
An Active Volcano for Years
Semeru is considered one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia, experiencing a continuous phase of activity since around 2017, with a noticeable increase in the frequency of eruptions during the last months of 2025 and the beginning of 2026.
