أعلن الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب، اليوم (السبت)، نوعية السلاح الذي استخدمه في عملية اعتقال الرئيس الفنزويلي نيكولاس مادورو في كاراكاس الشهر الماضي.
وأوضح لصحيفة «نيويورك بوست» الأمريكية، أن السلاح الجديد الذي استخدمه اسمه «المُربِك» أو «المُشتت»، مبيناً أن السلاح نجح في تعطيل القدرات العسكرية للقوات الفنزويلية، بالتزامن مع هبوط مروحيات أمريكية في كاراكاس في 3 يناير الماضي، لتنفيذ عملية اعتقال مادورو وزوجته سيليا فلوريس، على خلفية اتهامات فيدرالية مرتبطة بالمخدرات والأسلحة.
وقال ترمب: «السلاح السري الجديد جعل معدات بفنزويلا لا تعمل»، رافضاً الإفصاح عن تفاصيل هذا السلاح.
واكتفى ترمب بالقول: «السلاح السري مُربِك، لا يُسمح لي بالحديث عنه»، لافتاً إلى رغبته في كشف مزيد من التفاصيل، لكنه أكد استخدام السلاح بالفعل في العملية.
وأضاف: «لم يتمكنوا من إطلاق صواريخهم، كانت لديهم صواريخ روسية وصينية، لكنهم عجزوا عن تشغيل أي منها، دخلنا، وضغطنا على الأزرار، ولم يعمل شيء، كانوا مستعدين تماماً، لكن بلا جدوى».
وذكرت الصحيفة أن تصريحات ترمب جاءت تعليقاً على تقارير نُشرت هذا الأسبوع أفادت بأن إدارة الرئيس جو بايدن سبق أن اشترت سلاحاً يعتمد على الطاقة النبضية، يُشتبه في أنه من النوع المرتبط بما يُعرف بـ«متلازمة هافانا».
وذكرت الصحيفة أنه لا تتوافر معلومات مؤكدة عن طبيعة هذا السلاح، غير أن التقارير استندت إلى شهادات ميدانية من داخل فنزويلا تحدثت عن إصابة مسلحين موالين لمادورو بحالات إعياء حادة، وكانوا يعانون من نزيف في الأنف وتقيؤ دموي.
وكان ترمب قد قال في مقابلة مع قناة «نيوز نيشن»، رداً على سؤال حول هذا الموضوع: «لدينا أسلحة لا يعلم عنها أحد»، مضيفاً: «لا نريد أن يمتلكها أي شخص آخر».
وشدد ترمب بالقول: «أعتقد أنه من الأفضل عدم الحديث عن هذا الأمر، لكن لدينا أسلحة مذهلة».
وكان أحد عناصر الحماية المقربين من مادورو، قد قال إن جميع أنظمة الرادار توقفت فجأة دون أي تفسير، موضحاً أنه «بعد ذلك شاهدوا طائرات مسيّرة، عدداً كبيراً منها، تحلق فوق مواقعهم ولم يعرفوا كيف يتصرفون».
وذكر الشاهد أن نحو 8 مروحيات على الأكثر ظهرت لاحقاً، وكانت تقل نحو 20 جندياً أمريكياً إلى الموقع، موضحاً انهم أطلقوا شيئاً لا يستطيع وصفه، كان أشبه بموجة صوتية شديدة جداً «شعرت فجأة وكأن رأسي سينفجر من الداخل، وبدأنا جميعاً ننزف من أنوفنا، وتقيأ بعضنا دماً، سقطنا أرضاً عاجزين عن الحركة، ولم نتمكن حتى من النهوض بعد استخدام ذلك السلاح الصوتي أو أياً كان».
U.S. President Donald Trump announced today (Saturday) the type of weapon he used in the operation to arrest Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in Caracas last month.
He explained to the American newspaper "New York Post" that the new weapon he used is called "the Confuser" or "the Disruptor," indicating that the weapon successfully disabled the military capabilities of the Venezuelan forces, coinciding with the landing of American helicopters in Caracas on January 3rd, to carry out the arrest of Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, amid federal drug and arms-related charges.
Trump said, "The new secret weapon made equipment in Venezuela inoperable," refusing to disclose details about this weapon.
He merely stated, "The secret weapon is confusing; I am not allowed to talk about it," noting his desire to reveal more details, but he confirmed that the weapon was indeed used in the operation.
He added, "They were unable to launch their missiles; they had Russian and Chinese missiles, but they couldn't operate any of them. we entered, pressed the buttons, and nothing worked. They were completely prepared, but to no avail."
The newspaper reported that Trump's statements came in response to reports published this week indicating that the Biden administration had previously purchased a weapon based on pulse energy, suspected to be of the type associated with what is known as the "Havana Syndrome."
The newspaper noted that there is no confirmed information about the nature of this weapon, but reports relied on field testimonies from inside Venezuela that spoke of pro-Maduro armed individuals suffering from severe fatigue, experiencing nosebleeds and vomiting blood.
Trump had said in an interview with "News Nation," in response to a question about this topic: "We have weapons that no one knows about," adding, "We don't want anyone else to have them."
Trump emphasized by saying, "I think it's better not to talk about this matter, but we have amazing weapons."
One of the close protection elements around Maduro stated that all radar systems suddenly stopped without any explanation, clarifying that "after that, they saw drones, a large number of them, flying over their positions and they didn't know how to react."
The witness mentioned that about 8 helicopters at most appeared later, carrying around 20 American soldiers to the site, explaining that they launched something he couldn't describe, which was like a very strong sound wave. "I suddenly felt like my head was going to explode from the inside, and we all started bleeding from our noses, and some of us vomited blood. We fell to the ground, unable to move, and we couldn't even get up after using that sonic weapon or whatever it was."
