دشن المشرف العام على مكتبة الملك عبدالعزيز العامة فيصل بن عبدالرحمن بن معمر، معرض أصول الخيل بالتزامن مع يوم التأسيس، في فعالية ثقافية تستحضر الدور المحوري للخيل في تاريخ الدولة السعودية وارتباطها بمراحل التأسيس وبناء الكيان.
وأكد بن معمر خلال الافتتاح وعند عرض النسخة الأصلية من مخطوطة أصول الخيل، أن المكتبة تفخر باقتناء هذه المخطوطة التي لا يوجد لها مثيل في العالم.
وقال: «ربما هي من أندر المصادر التي دخلت مقتنيات المكتبة خلال 4 عقود»، مبيناً أن المعرض يمثل قراءة معرفية موثقة لمرحلة مفصلية من تاريخ المملكة ويبرز كيف اجتمعت قوة الإنسان والخيل والإرادة في صناعة الدولة وترسيخ دعائم الوحدة.
وأوضح أن هذه البلاد قامت على عقيدة التوحيد وهدف الوحدة وكانت الخيل والجمال وقوة الإنسان من أبرز الوسائل التي أسهمت في تثبيت أركانها، مشيراً إلى أن المعرض يقدم شواهد تاريخية موثقة تؤكد عمق هذا الارتباط وأصالته.
وأضاف أن تنوع مصادر المعرض بين المحلية والعربية والأجنبية يعكس عناية المكتبة الممتدة لأكثر من 40 عاماً بجمع كل ما يتعلق بالخيل والفروسية وتوثيقه، مؤكداً أن هذا الرصيد المعرفي يعزز حضور المملكة في حفظ تراثها وتقديمه للأجيال بلغة الوثيقة والدليل.
ومن أبرز المعروضات، مخطوطة عباس باشا الأول التي بدأ إعدادها عام 1848، وتعد من أهم المراجع في توثيق أنساب الخيل العربية وأسمائها ومرابطها وسلالاتها وملاكها، كما يعرض الكتاب المصور المذهب الخيول الشرقية الصادر عام 1821 الذي يعد من أقدم الدراسات الغربية عن الخيل العربية.
ويضم المعرض صوراً نادرة التقطتها الأميرة البريطانية أليس عام 1938، إلى جانب ما دونه ابن بشر في كتاب عنوان المجد في تاريخ نجد عن الخيل في الدولة السعودية الأولى والثانية، إضافة إلى موسوعة فروسية الببليوغرافية وعدد من اللوحات الفنية والمسكوكات الإسلامية والأفلام القصيرة التي توثق مكانة الخيل في الوجدان العربي والسعودي.
ويجسد معرض أصول الخيل من خلال وثائقه ومخطوطاته وصوره شهادة على عمق تاريخ الدولة السعودية وتواصل مراحلها منذ الدولة الأولى حتى توحيد المملكة، في مشهد ثقافي يربط الماضي بالحاضر تحت مظلة يوم التأسيس.
The General Supervisor of the King Abdulaziz Public Library, Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Muammar, inaugurated the Horse Origins Exhibition in conjunction with Foundation Day, in a cultural event that evokes the pivotal role of horses in the history of the Saudi state and their connection to the stages of establishment and nation-building.
During the opening, while showcasing the original manuscript of the Horse Origins, bin Muammar affirmed that the library takes pride in acquiring this manuscript, which has no equivalent in the world.
He stated, "It may be one of the rarest sources that have entered the library's collection over the past four decades," indicating that the exhibition represents a documented intellectual reading of a pivotal phase in the history of the Kingdom and highlights how the strength of man, horses, and willpower came together to shape the state and establish the foundations of unity.
He explained that this land was built on the creed of monotheism and the goal of unity, and that horses, camels, and human strength were among the most prominent means that contributed to solidifying its pillars, pointing out that the exhibition presents documented historical evidence that confirms the depth and authenticity of this connection.
He added that the diversity of the exhibition's sources, including local, Arab, and foreign materials, reflects the library's care over more than 40 years in collecting everything related to horses and equestrianism and documenting it, emphasizing that this body of knowledge enhances the Kingdom's presence in preserving its heritage and presenting it to future generations in the language of documents and evidence.
Among the most notable exhibits is the manuscript of Abbas Pasha I, which began preparation in 1848, and is considered one of the most important references in documenting the lineage, names, stables, breeds, and owners of Arabian horses. The exhibition also features the illustrated book "The Golden Horses of the East," published in 1821, which is one of the earliest Western studies on Arabian horses.
The exhibition includes rare photographs taken by British Princess Alice in 1938, alongside what Ibn Bashir documented in his book "The Glory in the History of Najd" about horses in the first and second Saudi states, in addition to the Bibliographic Encyclopedia of Equestrianism and several artworks, Islamic coins, and short films that document the status of horses in the Arab and Saudi consciousness.
The Horse Origins Exhibition embodies, through its documents, manuscripts, and images, a testament to the deep history of the Saudi state and the continuity of its stages from the first state to the unification of the Kingdom, in a cultural scene that connects the past with the present under the umbrella of Foundation Day.
