استبشر سكان حي الساير في حوية الطائف، بعودة العمل في مشروع عبّارة تصريف السيول بعد توقف طويل، إلا أن فرحتهم لم تدم، إذ فوجئوا بتعثر المشروع مجدداً دون توضيح الأسباب، ما أعاد مخاوفهم من استمرار معاناة امتدت لأكثر من عقد.

وأوضح ياسر الجعيد لـ«عكاظ» أن المقاول بدأ العمل من نهاية المشروع، وترك الجزء الأكثر أهمية الذي يخدم الكثافة السكانية في الحي، فيما تحوّل المجرى المفتوح إلى مصدر قلق يومي، بعد أن أصبح مأوى للكلاب الضالة والثعابين، وبيئة خصبة لتكاثر البعوض والحشرات، إضافة إلى الروائح الكريهة المنبعثة من الموقع لقربه من المنازل.

وأضاف متسائلاً عن أسباب التعثر المتكرر: من يتحمل مسؤولية استمرار المشروع دون إنجاز فعلي على أرض الواقع؟

وأشار سعيد الزهراني إلى أن المشروع تعاقب عليه ثلاثة أمناء لأمانة الطائف دون أن يكتمل، لافتاً إلى أن الروائح الكريهة المنبعثة من الموقع زادت من معاناة الأهالي، خصوصاً في ظل قربه من المنازل.

وأكد محمد بن سعيد أن الوضع الحالي لا يعكس حجم الضرر البيئي والصحي الذي يعيشونه، فيما طالب السكان الجهة المعنية بسرعة استكمال الجزء المتبقي من المشروع، ومعالجة الأضرار المصاحبة، ووضع حدٍّ لمعاناة استمرت سنوات دون حلول جذرية.

The residents of the Al-Sayer neighborhood in the Huwaiyah area of Taif were delighted by the resumption of work on the stormwater drainage project after a long halt. However, their joy was short-lived as they were surprised to find the project stalled again without any explanation, rekindling their fears of a prolonged struggle that has lasted over a decade.

Yasser Al-Juaid explained to "Okaz" that the contractor began work from the end of the project, leaving the most crucial part that serves the population density in the neighborhood. Meanwhile, the open channel has turned into a daily source of concern, as it has become a shelter for stray dogs and snakes, and a fertile environment for the breeding of mosquitoes and insects, in addition to the foul odors emanating from the site due to its proximity to homes.

He added, questioning the reasons for the repeated delays: Who is responsible for the continuation of the project without any actual progress on the ground?

Saeed Al-Zahrani pointed out that the project has seen three secretaries of the Taif municipality without being completed, noting that the foul odors coming from the site have increased the suffering of the residents, especially given its closeness to their homes.

Mohammed bin Saeed confirmed that the current situation does not reflect the extent of the environmental and health damage they are experiencing, while the residents demanded that the relevant authorities quickly complete the remaining part of the project, address the accompanying damages, and put an end to the suffering that has lasted for years without any radical solutions.
