حذر أمين عام الأمم المتحدة أنطونيو غوتيريش، اليوم (السبت)، من خطر أن يتحول جنوب لبنان إلى مكان غير مأهول بسبب الحرب، مؤكداً استمرار انتهاك سلامة الأراضي اللبنانية وعدم التوصل إلى وقف فعلي لإطلاق النار.

وقال غوتيريش خلال مؤتمر صحفي عقده في العاصمة اللبنانية بيروت، في ختام زيارته لها، إن «مناطق عدة في لبنان باتت مسرحاً للدمار، ورسالتي لجميع الأطراف هي وقف الحرب واعتماد الدبلوماسية والحوار»، مؤكداً بذل جهود لخفض التصعيد ووقف الأعمال العدائية وجلب الأطراف إلى طاولة الحوار في وقت الشعب اللبناني لم يختر هذه الحرب، ويجب احترام وحماية المدنيين وتفادي استهداف البنية التحتية.

وأشار أمين عام الأمم المتحدة أنه «سيواصل تقديم الدعم لتقوية القوات المسلحة اللبنانية، ويجب تطبيق القرار 1701، وعلى إسرائيل احترام سيادة لبنان وسلامة أرضه، ويجب وقف الحرب، كما على حزب الله احترام قرار الحكومة اللبنانية بحصر السلاح بيد الدولة».

وأعاد غوتيريش التشديد على أنه «يبذل قصارى جهده لتقديم الدعم للشعب والحكومة اللبنانية»، موضحاً أن الهجمات على قوات اليونيفيل غير مقبولة ويجب وقفها لأنها تنتهك القانون الدولي.

وكان غوتيريش قد زار قائد الجيش العماد رودولف هيكل صباحاً في مكتبه-اليرزة، وبحثا الأوضاع العامة والتطورات في لبنان والمنطقة. وجرى التشديد على ضرورة تطبيق القرارات الدولية، لا سيما القرار 1701، والالتزام باتفاق وقف الأعمال العدائية، وتطبيق الجيش خطته.

The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned today (Saturday) of the danger that southern Lebanon could become an uninhabited place due to the war, emphasizing the continued violation of the integrity of Lebanese territory and the failure to reach a real ceasefire.

Guterres stated during a press conference held in the Lebanese capital Beirut, at the conclusion of his visit, that "several areas in Lebanon have become a theater of destruction, and my message to all parties is to stop the war and adopt diplomacy and dialogue," stressing efforts to de-escalate and halt hostilities and bring the parties to the negotiating table at a time when the Lebanese people did not choose this war, and it is necessary to respect and protect civilians and avoid targeting infrastructure.

The UN Secretary-General indicated that he "will continue to provide support to strengthen the Lebanese Armed Forces, and Resolution 1701 must be implemented, Israel must respect Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the war must stop, as Hezbollah must respect the Lebanese government's decision to confine weapons to the state."

Guterres reiterated that he "is doing his utmost to provide support to the Lebanese people and government," clarifying that attacks on UNIFIL forces are unacceptable and must be stopped as they violate international law.

Earlier, Guterres visited Army Commander General Rudolf Haikal in the morning at his office in Yarzeh, and they discussed the general situation and developments in Lebanon and the region. They emphasized the necessity of implementing international resolutions, especially Resolution 1701, adhering to the ceasefire agreement, and the army implementing its plan.
