اقتحمت مليشيات موالية لـ«حزب الله» و«الحشد الشعبي»، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، مبنى القنصلية الكويتية في مدينة البصرة، في تطور يعكس تصعيداً ميدانياً لافتاً، رغم محاولات الأجهزة الأمنية العراقية احتواء الموقف ومنع المتظاهرين من الوصول إلى المقر الدبلوماسي.

اقتحام رغم الإجراءات الأمنية

وأفادت وسائل إعلام عراقية بأن مجموعات من المتظاهرين، كانوا يرفعون أعلام «حزب الله» و«الحشد الشعبي»، تمكنوا من تجاوز الطوق الأمني المحيط بالقنصلية، بعد اشتباكات محدودة مع القوات الأمنية التي استخدمت الغاز المسيل للدموع لتفريقهم.

ورغم تلك الإجراءات، نجح المحتجون في اقتحام سور القنصلية، في مشهد يعكس هشاشة الوضع الأمني أمام تحركات الفصائل المسلحة، فيما لم تصدر القنصلية الكويتية أو الجهات الرسمية بياناً فورياً بشأن تفاصيل الحادثة.

توتر دبلوماسي سابق

ويأتي هذا التصعيد بعد أيام من تحرك دبلوماسي كويتي، إذ استدعت وزارة الخارجية الكويتية القائم بالأعمال العراقي في الكويت زيد عباس شنشول، للمرة الثانية، وسلمته مذكرة احتجاج رسمية على خلفية ما وصفته بـ«استمرار الاعتداءات التي تنفذها فصائل مسلحة عراقية وتستهدف الأراضي الكويتية».

تحذير كويتي وتصعيد قانوني

وأكد نائب وزير الخارجية الكويتي بالوكالة عزيز رحيم الديحاني أن استخدام الأراضي العراقية لشن هجمات ضد الكويت يمثل «عدواناً مباشراً» وانتهاكاً صريحاً للسيادة وللقانون الدولي وميثاق الأمم المتحدة.

وطالب الديحاني الحكومة العراقية باتخاذ إجراءات فورية وحاسمة لردع تلك الممارسات، مجدداً تأكيد حق الكويت في الدفاع عن نفسها وفق المادة (51) من ميثاق الأمم المتحدة، واتخاذ ما يلزم لحماية أمنها وسلامة أراضيها.

Militias loyal to "Hezbollah" and "Popular Mobilization" stormed the Kuwaiti consulate building in Basra today (Tuesday), in a development that reflects a notable escalation on the ground, despite attempts by Iraqi security forces to contain the situation and prevent demonstrators from reaching the diplomatic headquarters.

Storming despite security measures

Iraqi media reported that groups of demonstrators, who were waving flags of "Hezbollah" and "Popular Mobilization," managed to breach the security cordon surrounding the consulate after limited clashes with security forces, which used tear gas to disperse them.

Despite these measures, the protesters succeeded in breaching the consulate's wall, in a scene that reflects the fragility of the security situation in the face of armed factions' movements, while the Kuwaiti consulate or official entities have not issued an immediate statement regarding the details of the incident.

Previous diplomatic tension

This escalation comes days after a Kuwaiti diplomatic move, as the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Iraqi chargé d'affaires in Kuwait, Zaid Abbas Shanshul, for the second time, and handed him a formal protest note regarding what it described as "the continued assaults carried out by Iraqi armed factions targeting Kuwaiti territory."

Kuwaiti warning and legal escalation

Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister acting Aziz Rahim Al-Dihani confirmed that the use of Iraqi territory to launch attacks against Kuwait represents a "direct aggression" and a clear violation of sovereignty, international law, and the United Nations Charter.

Al-Dihani urged the Iraqi government to take immediate and decisive measures to deter such practices, reaffirming Kuwait's right to defend itself under Article (51) of the United Nations Charter and to take whatever is necessary to protect its security and territorial integrity.
