أعربت وزارة الخارجية عن إدانة واستنكار المملكة العربية السعودية لأعمال الاقتحام والتخريب التي استهدفت القنصلية العامة لدولة الكويت الشقيقة في مدينة البصرة العراقية، وما رافقها من اعتداءات سافرة على حرمة البعثة القنصلية.
وأكدت الوزارة رفض المملكة التام لهذه الأفعال غير المسؤولة، مشددة على ضرورة احترام البعثات الدبلوماسية والقنصلية وعدم المساس بها تحت أي ظرف.
وشددت على مسؤولية الدول في توفير الحماية الكاملة لأعضاء البعثات القنصلية ومقراتها، التزاماً بما نصّت عليه اتفاقية فيينا للعلاقات القنصلية لعام 1963.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's condemnation and denunciation of the acts of incursion and vandalism that targeted the Consulate General of the sisterly State of Kuwait in the Iraqi city of Basra, along with the blatant assaults on the sanctity of the consular mission.
The ministry affirmed the Kingdom's complete rejection of these irresponsible actions, emphasizing the necessity of respecting diplomatic and consular missions and not infringing upon them under any circumstances.
It stressed the responsibility of states to provide full protection for members of consular missions and their premises, in accordance with what is stipulated in the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963.
