أكد الرئيس اللبناني جوزيف عون، في كلمة توجه بها إلى اللبنانيين، اليوم (الجمعة)، أن وقف إطلاق النار شكّل بداية مرحلة سياسية جديدة للبنان، كاشفاً عن دور أمريكي وعربي بارز قاده الرئيس دونالد ترمب والمملكة العربية السعودية في إنجاز هذا المسار، مؤكداً أن هذا التطور لم يكن وليد لحظة، بل نتيجة مسار طويل من العمل المكثف والجهود المتواصلة داخلياً وخارجياً.
وكشف أن المسؤولين اللبنانيين تعرضوا خلال هذه المرحلة لحملات انتقاد واتهامات وضغوط سياسية، إلا أنهم واصلوا العمل انطلاقاً من قناعة بأن المسار الدبلوماسي هو الخيار الأكثر جدوى لحماية البلاد، معتبراً أن التطورات الأخيرة أثبتت صحة هذا التوجه، بعدما تم التوصل إلى وقف النار بدعم إقليمي ودولي.
وأشار عون إلى أن لبنان دخل مرحلة جديدة تقوم على الانتقال من تثبيت وقف إطلاق النار إلى السعي نحو تفاهمات دائمة تضمن حقوق الدولة اللبنانية، وتحفظ وحدة الأراضي والسيادة الوطنية، وتمنع العودة إلى دوامة المواجهات العسكرية. وشدد على أن المرحلة القادمة ستتطلب عملاً سياسياً دقيقاً ومفاوضات مسؤولة هدفها تثبيت الاستقرار وإعادة بناء الثقة الداخلية والخارجية بلبنان.
وأكد أن الدولة استعادت قرارها الوطني للمرة الأولى منذ عقود، موضحاً أن لبنان بات يتخذ قراراته بنفسه، ويفاوض انطلاقاً من مصلحته الوطنية، ولن يكون بعد اليوم ساحة تستخدمها القوى الخارجية لتصفية حساباتها أو فرض أجنداتها. وأضاف أن السلطة الشرعية وحدها يجب أن تملك قرار الحرب والسلم، وأن الأولوية ستكون لحماية اللبنانيين وصون مؤسسات الدولة.
واعتبر أن المفاوضات لا تعني ضعفاً أو تراجعاً أو تنازلاً، بل هي وسيلة سياسية لحماية الشعب والأرض ومنع المزيد من الضحايا، مشيراً إلى أن الحفاظ على الحقوق الوطنية والسيادة يشكلان ثابتة لا يمكن المساس بها تحت أي ظرف.
وتوقف عون عند الخسائر البشرية التي تكبدها لبنان، مؤكداً أن آلاف اللبنانيين سقطوا خلال المرحلة الماضية، وأن واجب الدولة منع تكرار هذه المآسي وعدم السماح باستمرار دفع اللبنانيين أثمان صراعات لا تخدم مصلحة وطنهم.
وفي الشأن الداخلي، دعا الرئيس عون اللبنانيين إلى التمسك بالوحدة الوطنية ورفض الانقسام وخطاب التخوين، معتبراً أن البلاد تقف أمام خيارين واضحين: إما السير نحو الاستقرار والازدهار عبر العقلانية والعمل المؤسساتي، وإما العودة إلى مسارات الانهيار والفوضى. وختم بالتشديد على أن الأوطان تبنى بالوعي والثقة والتضامن، لا بالشعارات والصدامات الداخلية.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun confirmed, in a speech addressed to the Lebanese people today (Friday), that the ceasefire marked the beginning of a new political phase for Lebanon, revealing a prominent American and Arab role led by President Donald Trump and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in achieving this path, emphasizing that this development was not the result of a moment, but rather the outcome of a long process of intensive work and continuous efforts both domestically and internationally.
He revealed that Lebanese officials faced criticism, accusations, and political pressures during this phase, yet they continued to work based on the conviction that the diplomatic path is the most viable option to protect the country, considering that recent developments have proven the validity of this approach, after a ceasefire was reached with regional and international support.
Aoun pointed out that Lebanon has entered a new phase that involves transitioning from establishing a ceasefire to seeking permanent understandings that guarantee the rights of the Lebanese state, preserve territorial unity and national sovereignty, and prevent a return to the cycle of military confrontations. He stressed that the upcoming phase will require precise political work and responsible negotiations aimed at stabilizing security and rebuilding internal and external trust in Lebanon.
He affirmed that the state has regained its national decision for the first time in decades, explaining that Lebanon is now making its own decisions and negotiating based on its national interest, and will no longer be a playground for external powers to settle scores or impose their agendas. He added that only the legitimate authority should have the decision of war and peace, and that the priority will be to protect the Lebanese people and safeguard state institutions.
He considered that negotiations do not signify weakness, retreat, or concession, but rather are a political means to protect the people and the land and prevent further casualties, pointing out that preserving national rights and sovereignty are constants that cannot be compromised under any circumstances.
Aoun addressed the human losses that Lebanon has suffered, confirming that thousands of Lebanese fell during the past phase, and that it is the state's duty to prevent the repetition of these tragedies and not allow Lebanese people to continue paying the price for conflicts that do not serve the interests of their nation.
On the internal front, President Aoun called on the Lebanese to adhere to national unity and reject division and the rhetoric of betrayal, considering that the country stands before two clear options: either to move towards stability and prosperity through rationality and institutional work, or to return to paths of collapse and chaos. He concluded by emphasizing that nations are built on awareness, trust, and solidarity, not on slogans and internal clashes.
