لم تكن الرحلة إلى جزيرة «شورى» مجرد دعوة إعلامية عابرة، ولا زيارة تقليدية إلى مشروع سياحي جديد، بل كانت أشبه بالدخول إلى عالم صُمّم بعناية ليترك أثره في الذاكرة قبل الصورة.
منذ اللحظة الأولى، بدا كل شيء وكأنه جزء من تجربة محسوبة التفاصيل؛ من إجراءات السفر الهادئة، إلى الرحلة على متن طائرة «السعودية» نحو قلب مشروع البحر الأحمر، وصولاً إلى الجزيرة التي تحولت اليوم إلى أحد أكثر المشاريع السعودية طموحاً وهدوءاً في آنٍ واحد.
تقع «شورى» بين أملج والوجه على الساحل الغربي للسعودية بمنطقة تبوك، وتُعد الجزيرة الرئيسية في وجهة البحر الأحمر السياحية، لكنها لا تُشبه الوجهات المعتادة التي تتكاثر فيها الأبراج والإسمنت بقدر ما تشبه محاولة هادئة للتصالح مع الطبيعة، لا لمنافستها.
جزيرة لا ترفع صوتها
في «شورى»، لا شيء يبدو صاخباً أو متكلّفاً
حتى الفخامة هنا تأتي بهدوء؛ طرقات واسعة بلا ازدحام، ومنتجعات تتوارى خلف المشهد الطبيعي أكثر مما تفرض نفسها عليه، وبحر يمتد بلونه الفيروزي الصافي حتى يبدو وكأنه يعكس الضوء لا السماء.
المشروع يعمل بالكامل بالطاقة المتجددة، ضمن توجه الاستدامة الذي يتبناه مشروع البحر الأحمر، ويضم 11 منتجعاً فاخراً، إضافة إلى ملعب غولف، ومراسي يخوت، ومرافق ترفيهية متعددة، لكن اللافت أن كل هذه العناصر لم تُبنَ على حساب البيئة البحرية أو الشعاب المرجانية، بل جرى تصميمها لتنسجم معها.
لا تُقدَّم «شورى» باعتبارها مشروعاً عمرانياً على البحر فحسب، بل كنموذج جديد للسياحة الهادئة؛ سياحة تمنح الطبيعة المساحة الأولى، وتمنح الزائر شعوراً نادراً بالعزلة المريحة بعيداً عن صخب المدن وإيقاعها المتسارع.
خمسة أيام من الهدوء والمتعة
خلال خمسة أيام قضيتها في الجزيرة، بدا الوقت مختلفاً.
الصباحات تبدأ على صوت البحر، والليالي تنتهي بهدوء يكاد يكون جزءاً من هوية المكان. حتى الطعام لم يكن مجرد تجربة فاخرة تقليدية، بل امتداداً لفكرة الجزيرة نفسها؛ نكهات بحرية طازجة، ومطاعم تمزج بين الطابع المحلي والأسلوب العالمي.
كل منتجع في «شورى» يحمل هوية مختلفة، حتى في مطابخه، إذ تستلهم بعض المطاعم تجاربها من مطابخ عالمية متنوعة، ما يمنح الزائر شعوراً بأنه ينتقل بين ثقافات متعددة وهو لا يزال داخل الجزيرة ذاتها.
حين تتحدث اللغة في قلب البحر الأحمر
ورغم جمال البحر والمنتجعات، بقيت أكثر اللحظات رسوخاً في الذاكرة بعيدة عن الفخامة والمشهد البصري.
كانت لحظة إنسانية بسيطة صنعتها موظفة استقبال أوزبكية تُدعى «صوفيا».
منذ وصولي، استقبلتني بود واضح واحترافية عالية، وكانت تتحدث الإنجليزية بطلاقة طوال فترة الإقامة. وبعد أيام من الحديث اليومي، سألتها عن موطنها، فأخبرتني بأنها من أوزبكستان.
حينها بادلتها الحديث باللغة الأوزبكية، مستفيداً من إتقاني للغتين التركية والأوزبكية، لتظهر على وجهها دهشة عفوية ممزوجة بسعادة حقيقية. لم تكن تتوقع أن تجد من يحدثها بلغتها الأم في قلب البحر الأحمر.
وقبل مغادرتي المنتجع، فاجأتني بهدية تذكارية صغيرة تحمل صوراً ومعالم من أوزبكستان، مع دعوة صادقة لزيارة بلادها يوماً ما.
ربما كانت لحظة عابرة في نظر البعض، لكنها بالنسبة لي اختصرت شيئاً مهماً عن «شورى»؛ المكان لا يكتفي بتقديم الفخامة، بل ينجح أيضاً في صناعة التفاصيل الإنسانية الصغيرة التي تبقى في الذاكرة طويلاً بعد انتهاء الرحلة.

From the very first moment, everything seemed like part of a meticulously detailed experience; from the calm travel procedures, to the flight on a "Saudi" airline towards the heart of the Red Sea project, culminating in the island that has today become one of the most ambitious and tranquil Saudi projects at the same time.
"Shura" is located between Umluj and Al-Wajh on the western coast of Saudi Arabia in the Tabuk region, and it is the main island in the Red Sea tourist destination. However, it does not resemble the usual destinations filled with towers and concrete as much as it resembles a calm attempt to reconcile with nature, not to compete with it.
An Island That Does Not Raise Its Voice
In "Shura," nothing seems loud or pretentious.
Even luxury here comes quietly; wide roads without congestion, and resorts that hide behind the natural scenery more than they impose themselves on it, with a sea that stretches with its clear turquoise color, making it seem as if it reflects light rather than the sky.
The project operates entirely on renewable energy, as part of the sustainability approach adopted by the Red Sea project, and includes 11 luxurious resorts, in addition to a golf course, yacht marinas, and various recreational facilities. However, what is striking is that all these elements were not built at the expense of the marine environment or coral reefs, but were designed to harmonize with them.
"Shura" is not presented merely as a coastal construction project, but as a new model for tranquil tourism; tourism that gives nature the primary space and provides the visitor with a rare feeling of comfortable isolation away from the noise and fast pace of cities.
Five Days of Calm and Enjoyment
During the five days I spent on the island, time felt different.
Mornings began with the sound of the sea, and nights ended with a calm that seemed almost part of the place's identity. Even the food was not just a traditional luxury experience, but an extension of the island's very idea; fresh marine flavors, and restaurants that blend local character with global style.
Each resort in "Shura" carries a different identity, even in its kitchens, as some restaurants draw their inspirations from various international cuisines, giving the visitor a feeling of moving between multiple cultures while still being on the island itself.
When Language Speaks in the Heart of the Red Sea
And despite the beauty of the sea and the resorts, the most memorable moments remained far from luxury and visual spectacle.
It was a simple human moment created by a receptionist named "Sofia," who is Uzbek.
From the moment I arrived, she welcomed me with clear warmth and high professionalism, and she spoke English fluently throughout my stay. After days of daily conversation, I asked her about her homeland, and she told me she was from Uzbekistan.
At that moment, I exchanged conversation with her in Uzbek, benefiting from my proficiency in both Turkish and Uzbek, which brought a spontaneous look of surprise mixed with genuine happiness to her face. She did not expect to find someone speaking her mother tongue in the heart of the Red Sea.
Before I left the resort, she surprised me with a small souvenir gift featuring images and landmarks from Uzbekistan, along with a sincere invitation to visit her country one day.
It might have been a fleeting moment in the eyes of some, but for me, it encapsulated something important about "Shura"; the place does not just offer luxury, but also succeeds in creating small human details that linger in memory long after the journey ends.
