كشفت وسائل إعلام أمريكية، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، اجتماعاً يعقده الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب مع كبار مسؤولي إدارته في البيت الأبيض غداً (الأربعاء)؛ لبحث تطورات محادثات السلام مع إيران.
وذكرت صحيفة «نيويورك بوست» أن ترمب سيجتمع مع كبار مسؤولي الحكومة في منتجع «كامب ديفيد»، وسط توقعات بأن يهيمن الملف الإيراني على المناقشات في ظل اقتراب المفاوضات من مرحلة حاسمة.
وأوضحت الصحيفة أن الاجتماع سيضم الوزراء ومديرة الاستخبارات الوطنية تولسي جابارد، مشيرة إلى أن النقاشات ستتناول أيضاً الإنجازات الاقتصادية ودعم الشركات الصغيرة ومستجدات السياسة الخارجية.
وأفادت بأن البحرية الأمريكية تخطط لمرافقة 12 سفينة في مضيق هرمز خلال الأيام القادمة، كاشفة أن البحرية ساعدت ناقلة نفط يونانية على عبور المضيق، في ظل تصاعد التوترات بالمنطقة.
في المقابل، ذكر التلفزيون الإيراني أن الوفد المفاوض برئاسة محمد باقر قاليباف عاد من قطر بعد بحث ملف الأموال الإيرانية المجمدة، الذي شكّل محور المحادثات بين طهران والدوحة، مؤكداً أن الزيارة أحرزت تقدماً في المفاوضات مع واشنطن.
وكانت وزارة الخارجية الإيرانية قد اتهمت الولايات المتحدة في وقت سابق اليوم بـ«انتهاك وقف إطلاق النار» في هرمزجان، بعدما نفذت القيادة المركزية الأمريكية ضربات دفاعية في جنوب إيران استهدفت مواقع لإطلاق الصواريخ وقوارب قالت واشنطن إنها كانت تحاول زرع ألغام.
وقالت الخارجية الإيرانية: «إيران سترد ولن تتردد في الدفاع عن نفسها»، معتبرة أن «انتهاكات واشنطن لوقف إطلاق النار بالتزامن مع المسار الدبلوماسي تكشف مجدداً سوء نية».
American media revealed today (Tuesday) that President Donald Trump will hold a meeting with senior officials of his administration at the White House tomorrow (Wednesday) to discuss developments in the peace talks with Iran.
The "New York Post" reported that Trump will meet with top government officials at the "Camp David" resort, amid expectations that the Iranian file will dominate the discussions as negotiations approach a critical stage.
The newspaper explained that the meeting will include ministers and National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard, noting that the discussions will also address economic achievements, support for small businesses, and updates on foreign policy.
It reported that the U.S. Navy plans to escort 12 ships in the Strait of Hormuz in the coming days, revealing that the Navy assisted a Greek oil tanker in crossing the strait amid rising tensions in the region.
In contrast, Iranian television reported that the negotiating delegation headed by Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf returned from Qatar after discussing the issue of frozen Iranian funds, which formed the core of the talks between Tehran and Doha, confirming that the visit made progress in negotiations with Washington.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry had earlier accused the United States today of "violating the ceasefire" in Hormozgan after the U.S. Central Command carried out defensive strikes in southern Iran targeting missile launch sites and boats that Washington claimed were attempting to plant mines.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated: "Iran will respond and will not hesitate to defend itself," considering that "Washington's violations of the ceasefire alongside the diplomatic track once again reveal bad intentions."
