في أول تعليق رسمي بعد تهديدات رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو بتوجيه ضربات إلى الضاحية الجنوبية لبيروت، شدد الرئيس اللبناني جوزيف عون على أن التفاوض يبقى الخيار الأسلم من الحرب، مؤكداً أن لبنان لن يتراجع عن هذا المسار رغم التعقيدات والتحديات الميدانية والسياسية.
وقال عون في لقاء مع وفد شبكة القطاع الخاص اللبناني: «للأسف البعض يعتبر التفاوض استسلاماً، إلا أنه ليس كذلك، كما هو ليس تنازلاً بل حل لإيقاف الحروب بأقل ضرر ممكن. لن نتراجع عن خيارنا وجميعنا في لبنان كمسؤولين نبذل المستحيل. قد تتعرقل المفاوضات أو تتأخر عن بلوغ الهدف الذي نريده لكنها تسير. وكل الأمور يتم حلّها بالتفاوض مهما طالت. والحرب لن تصل بنتيجة لكافة أطرافها».
وأوضح أن الجيش لم يعلن أن منطقة الجنوب أصبحت منزوعة وخالية من السلاح. ووفقاً للمفهوم العسكري لقد أصبحت هناك سيطرة عملانية على المنطقة من قبل الجيش. فإخلاء الجنوب من السلاح يحتاج إلى وقت في ظل الطبيعة الجغرافية لهذه الأرض الغنية بالجبال والوديان، والجيش قام بواجباته في هذا المجال.
وأضاف: «الصواريخ التي أُطلقت في بداية الحرب كانت من منطقة شمال الليطاني، وعلينا التوضيح أيضاً أن الإسرائيلي من جهته لم يساعد على تنفيذ اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار، الذي بموجبه كان على إسرائيل إخلاء النقاط الخمس التي احتلتها، إلا أنها استمرت بعملياتها العسكرية وقصف القرى تحت حجة الدفاع عن النفس».
وشهدت الضاحية الجنوبية لبيروت اليوم أكبر موجة نزوح، بعدما أصدر الجيش الإسرائيلي أوامر بالإخلاء لسكان 7 قرى وبلدات في جنوب لبنان، متوعداً بمهاجمتها رداً على هجمات لـ«حزب الله».
وازدحمت الطرقات والشوارع في الضاحية الجنوبية بالسيارات والشاحنات التي تحمل الأثاث وكل ما يمكن أن تستطيع الأسر أخذه لفرارها من الضاحية إلى مناطق مختلفة في لبنان.
In the first official comment following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's threats to strike the southern suburbs of Beirut, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun emphasized that negotiation remains the safest option over war, asserting that Lebanon will not retreat from this path despite the complexities and field and political challenges.
Aoun said in a meeting with a delegation from the Lebanese private sector network: "Unfortunately, some consider negotiation to be surrender, but it is not; it is not a concession but a solution to stop wars with the least possible harm. we will not retreat from our choice, and all of us in Lebanon as officials are doing everything we can. Negotiations may be delayed or hindered in reaching the goal we want, but they are ongoing. All matters can be resolved through negotiation, no matter how long it takes. War will not yield results for any of its parties."
He clarified that the army has not declared the southern region to be demilitarized and free of weapons. According to military understanding, there is now operational control over the area by the army. Evacuating the south of weapons requires time due to the geographical nature of this land rich in mountains and valleys, and the army has fulfilled its duties in this regard.
He added: "The rockets that were launched at the beginning of the war were from the northern Litani area, and we must also clarify that the Israeli side did not assist in implementing the ceasefire agreement, under which Israel was supposed to evacuate the five points it occupied, yet it continued its military operations and bombed villages under the pretext of self-defense."
Today, the southern suburbs of Beirut witnessed the largest wave of displacement, after the Israeli army issued evacuation orders for residents of 7 villages and towns in southern Lebanon, threatening to attack them in response to attacks by "Hezbollah."
The roads and streets in the southern suburbs were crowded with cars and trucks carrying furniture and everything families could take to flee from the suburbs to various areas in Lebanon.
