وسط تراجع الآمال بالعثور على ناجين مع مرور الوقت واستمرار الأمطار والهزات الارتدادية، ارتفعت حصيلة ضحايا زلزال الفلبين، إلى 55 قتيلا، في وقت تواصل فرق الإنقاذ البحث عن مفقودين.
وأفادت حصيلة حكومية صدرت، اليوم (الجمعة)، بتسجيل 8 وفيات جديدة، بينما بلغ عدد المفقودين 31 شخصا.
وفي إقليم سارانغاني، الأكثر تضررا، تواصل المروحيات عملياتها لنقل الغذاء والمياه إلى السكان وسط انقطاع الكهرباء، حسبما أفاد رئيس إدارة الكوارث رينيه بونسالان.
وبينما يستمر البحث عن المفقودين، يتضاءل الأمل في العثور على ناجين. وفي السياق قال بونسالان: «مرت عدة أيام منذ وقوع الزلزال، وستكون معجزة إذا تم إنقاذ أي منهم على قيد الحياة» مضيفا: «هدفنا هو انتشال جثثهم فحسب».
وتسبب الزلزال الذي بلغت شدته 7,8 درجات وضرب سواحل مينداناو، ثاني أكبر جزيرة جنوبي البلاد، في انهيار مبانٍ وانزلاق أتربة، كما استدعى إطلاق تحذيرات من أمواج تسونامي في أنحاء المنطقة.
وقالت هيئة المسح الجيولوجي الأمريكية إن الزلزال ضرب على عمق 35 كيلومترا قبالة جزيرة مينداناو.
وكان المتحدث باسم مكتب الدفاع المدني دييغو ماريانو، اعلن أن 12 شخصا لقوا حتفهم في منطقة سوكسارغن بجزيرة ميندناو، مضيفا أن 129 شخصا أصيبوا بجروح في المنطقة، كما لقي 3 أشخاص مصرعهم في إقليم دافاو أوكسيدنتال.
وأفاد مركز التحذير من التسونامي في المحيط الهادي -في بيان- بأنه من المحتمل حدوث موجات تسونامي «خلال الساعات الثلاث القادمة»، على طول سواحل الفلبين وإندونيسيا وبالاو وتايوان وبابوا غينيا الجديدة.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that the earthquake struck at a depth of 35 kilometers off the coast of Mindanao.
The spokesperson for the Civil Defense Office, Diego Mariano, announced that 12 people lost their lives in the Soksargen region of Mindanao, adding that 129 people were injured in the area, while 3 people died in the Davao Occidental province.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center stated in a report that tsunami waves are likely to occur "within the next three hours" along the coasts of the Philippines, Indonesia, Palau, Taiwan, and Papua New Guinea.
