ودّع منتخب ألمانيا منافسات كأس العالم 2026 من دور الـ32، بعدما خسر أمام منتخب باراغواي بركلات الترجيح بنتيجة 4-3، عقب انتهاء الوقتين الأصلي والإضافي بالتعادل 1-1، في مواجهة مثيرة شهدت أول امتداد للأشواط الإضافية وركلات الترجيح في النسخة الحالية من البطولة.

وتقدمت باراغواي في الدقيقة 42 عن طريق خوليو إنسيسو، قبل أن يعيد كاي هافيرتز المنتخب الألماني إلى أجواء اللقاء بهدف التعادل في الدقيقة 54 بضربة رأس متقنة.

واستمر التعادل حتى الشوطين الإضافيين، وظن المنتخب الألماني أنه اقترب من خطف بطاقة التأهل بعدما سجل جوناثان تاه هدفًا في الدقيقة 102، إلا أن تقنية حكم الفيديو المساعد ألغته بداعي وجود مخالفة ارتكبها فالديمار أنطون ضد حارس مرمى باراغواي، لتتجه المباراة إلى ركلات الترجيح التي ابتسمت لمنتخب باراغواي، معلنة نهاية مشوار ألمانيا في البطولة.

Paraguay took the lead in the 42nd minute through Julio Enciso, before Kai Havertz brought the German team back into the match with an equalizing goal in the 54th minute with a precise header.

The draw continued until the extra time, and the German team thought they were close to snatching a qualification spot after Jonathan Tah scored a goal in the 102nd minute, but the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) ruled it out due to a foul committed by Waldemar Anton against the Paraguayan goalkeeper, leading the match to penalties, which favored the Paraguay team, announcing the end of Germany's journey in the tournament.
