توقعت مصادر مطلعة إجراء مفاوضات غير مباشرة بين الوفدين الأمريكي والإيراني بوجود الوسطاء، غداً (الأربعاء)، في الدوحة.
وأفادت مصادر قناتي «العربية» و«الحدث»، بأن الوفدين يلتقيان رئيس الوزراء القطري والوسطاء الباكستانيين اليوم (الثلاثاء)، في العاصمة القطرية، مؤكدة أن «لا محادثات مباشرة بينهما اليوم في قطر».
وأضافت أن مفاوضات الغد بين إيران وأمريكا ستركز على مضيق هرمز والاستقرار العام. ورجحت المصادر أن تحصل طهران في نهاية الأسبوع على 3 مليارات دولار من أموالها المجمدة وفق اتفاق تبادل السجناء الذي عقد في 2023.
من جانبه، قال المتحدث باسم الخارجية الإيرانية إسماعيل بقائي، الثلاثاء، إن عملية الإفراج عن الأصول الإيرانية المجمدة جارية. وأضاف في مؤتمر صحفي أن إيران تجري محادثات في الدوحة مع الوسيط القطري بشأن الأصول المجمدة التي تخص إيران.
ولفت إلى أنه من المحتمل أن تجرى لقاءات في الدوحة، غداً (الأربعاء)، مع الجانب القطري لبحث تنفيذ بنود مذكرة التفاهم مع الولايات المتحدة.
وكان المتحدث باسم الخارجية القطرية ماجد الأنصاري أعلن أنه لم يتم تحويل أموال إيران المجمدة البالغة 6 مليارات دولار إلى طهران حتى الآن.
وأضاف خلال مؤتمر صحفي، أن مسألة الأموال المجمدة مرتبطة بتطور المفاوضات بين واشنطن وطهران، لافتاً إلى أن تحويل الأموال الإيرانية المجمدة سيتم التوافق عليه بين الطرفين.
ونوَّه إلى أنه تم استخدام خط اتصال مباشر خاص بخفض التصعيد بمضيق هرمز لاحتواء المواجهات الأخيرة بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران.
وأضاف أن الدوحة تنسق مع سلطنة عُمان بشأن أمن الملاحة في مضيق هرمز، مشيراً إلى استخدام خط اتصال مباشر لاحتواء التوترات وضمان العبور الآمن للسفن خلال الأيام الماضية.
وأكد متحدث الخارجية القطرية أن المبعوثين الأمريكي ستيف ويتكوف وجاريد كوشنر سيلتقيان الوسطاء، مؤكداً أنه لا يوجد اجتماع رفيع المستوى مقرر بين أمريكا وإيران.
Informed sources expect indirect negotiations between the American and Iranian delegations with the presence of mediators to take place tomorrow (Wednesday) in Doha.
Sources from Al Arabiya and Al Hadath channels reported that the delegations will meet with the Qatari Prime Minister and Pakistani mediators today (Tuesday) in the Qatari capital, confirming that "there are no direct talks between them today in Qatar."
They added that tomorrow's negotiations between Iran and the U.S. will focus on the Strait of Hormuz and overall stability. The sources suggested that Tehran might receive $3 billion of its frozen funds by the end of the week under the prisoner exchange agreement made in 2023.
For his part, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baqaei stated on Tuesday that the process of releasing frozen Iranian assets is ongoing. He added in a press conference that Iran is holding talks in Doha with the Qatari mediator regarding the frozen assets belonging to Iran.
He pointed out that meetings may take place in Doha tomorrow (Wednesday) with the Qatari side to discuss the implementation of the memorandum of understanding with the United States.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid Al-Ansari announced that the $6 billion of frozen Iranian funds has not yet been transferred to Tehran.
He added during a press conference that the issue of the frozen funds is linked to the developments in negotiations between Washington and Tehran, noting that the transfer of the frozen Iranian funds will be agreed upon by both parties.
He noted that a direct communication line has been used for de-escalation in the Strait of Hormuz to contain recent confrontations between the United States and Iran.
He added that Doha is coordinating with the Sultanate of Oman regarding the security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, indicating that a direct communication line has been used to contain tensions and ensure the safe passage of ships in recent days.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman confirmed that U.S. envoys Steve Wittekov and Jared Kushner will meet with the mediators, emphasizing that there is no high-level meeting scheduled between the U.S. and Iran.
