تحولت أجزاء من شوارع حي المحاميد جنوب شرقي جدة، إلى مواقع متضررة تستدعي التدخل العاجل للصيانة، بعد تأثرها بمياه الأمطار التي تهطل بين الحين والآخر، رغم محدودية كمياتها.
وأرجع عدد من سكان الحي أسباب تدهور الطرق إلى وجود مياه، مؤكدين أن بقاء المياه فوق الطبقات الإسفلتية لفترات طويلة أدى إلى تآكلها وظهور الحفر والتشققات، في ظل بطء معالجة المشكلة من قبل الجهة المختصة.
وأوضح عدد من الأهالي، منهم راشد الشهري ونايف البقمي وفايز الأحمدي وفهد العمري، لـ«عكاظ»، أن الأمطار الأخيرة فاقمت الأضرار في الشارع الرئيسي بحي المحاميد، وهو طريق حيوي يشهد حركة مرورية كثيفة على مدار الساعة، لكونه يربط الحي بطريق مكة القديم وأحياء الحرازات والفاو وأم السلم، كما يعد منفذاً إلى طريق الحرمين السريع، إضافة إلى نشاطه التجاري المتزايد.
وأشاروا إلى أن الطريق لم يخضع لأعمال صيانة أو إعادة تأهيل منذ سنوات، رغم ما يشهده من كثافة مرورية، مؤكدين أن حالته الحالية تسببت في أضرار متكررة للمركبات، فضلاً عن تعطل انسيابية الحركة المرورية.
وأضاف السكان، أن تهالك الطبقة الإسفلتية وصعوبة العبور دفعت بعض قائدي المركبات إلى السير في المسار المقابل لتجنب الحفر، وهو ما يرفع من احتمالات وقوع حوادث مرورية خطيرة.
وطالب الأهالي بسرعة إعادة تأهيل الشارع الحيوي ومعالجة أضرار البنية التحتية، وإنهاء معاناتهم المستمرة، مستغربين استمرار تردي أوضاع أحد أهم الطرق الرئيسية في الحي لسنوات، وما ترتب على ذلك من اختناقات مرورية وطوابير طويلة للمركبات عند محاولة عبور الأجزاء السليمة والضيقة المتبقية من الطريق.
Parts of the streets in the Al-Muhammedi neighborhood southeast of Jeddah have turned into damaged sites that require urgent maintenance intervention, after being affected by rainwater that falls from time to time, despite its limited quantities.
Several residents of the neighborhood attributed the deterioration of the roads to the presence of water, confirming that the prolonged presence of water on the asphalt layers has led to their erosion and the appearance of potholes and cracks, amid the slow response to the problem by the relevant authorities.
A number of residents, including Rashid Al-Shahri, Nayef Al-Buqami, Faiz Al-Ahmadi, and Fahd Al-Omari, told "Okaz" that the recent rains have exacerbated the damage on the main street in Al-Muhammedi, which is a vital road that witnesses heavy traffic around the clock, as it connects the neighborhood to the old Makkah road and the neighborhoods of Al-Harazat, Al-Faw, and Umm Al-Salam, in addition to being an access point to the Haramain Expressway, along with its increasing commercial activity.
They pointed out that the road has not undergone maintenance or rehabilitation work for years, despite the heavy traffic it experiences, confirming that its current condition has caused repeated damage to vehicles, as well as disrupting the flow of traffic.
The residents added that the deterioration of the asphalt layer and the difficulty of crossing have led some drivers to use the opposite lane to avoid the potholes, which increases the likelihood of serious traffic accidents.
The residents called for the urgent rehabilitation of the vital street and the repair of the infrastructure damages, seeking an end to their ongoing suffering, expressing their astonishment at the continued deterioration of one of the most important main roads in the neighborhood for years, and the resulting traffic congestion and long queues of vehicles when attempting to cross the remaining intact and narrow parts of the road.
