Last Thursday, Abdulmalik al-Houthi delivered his incoherent speech, coinciding with the peak of the intense American attack on Iran. However, he did not threaten America or Israel; instead, he threatened the Kingdom, which he had targeted at its southern border two days before his speech, after the Yemeni forces intervened to prevent an Iranian plane from landing at Sana'a Airport. But this time, the position of the Yemeni government was different. we witnessed a wide movement, a loud voice, and a near consensus on confronting the chaos that the Houthi group is practicing in Yemen, in a manner different from before. There were indications of the use of military force and a large popular mobilization to support this direction, as evidenced in President Rashad al-Alimi's speech and the statements of many prominent Yemeni officials. Can we say that a military resolution has become imminent?
The Houthi group, in addition to its political ignorance and primitive thinking, is completely submissive to the directives of the Iranian regime, which treats it as a pawn to be moved however and whenever it wishes. Therefore, we can believe the reports that the Revolutionary Guard has given orders to the Houthi group to disrupt navigation in the Bab al-Mandab Strait whenever the execution signal is issued, as a pressure tactic in the confrontation with America by expanding the scope of the crisis and its impact on the global economy, in hopes of obtaining more concessions. It is not unlikely that the Houthis would do this if the bombing of Iran continues at the current pace and its losses increase.
The Houthis have rejected all attempts to peacefully end the Yemeni crisis, and they continue to escalate their attacks on the Kingdom whenever the situation in Iran worsens. They have become a real threat in a geographically important area, both security-wise and economically, regionally and globally. Now it seems that the moment is appropriate and ready to bring them back to their previous limits, reclaim the areas they have occupied in Yemen, and restore the legitimate government to Sana'a, closing the dark chapter that Yemen and its people are living through. It is true that war is costly, but the cost of the Houthi gang's continued existence is greater and poses a more severe danger to Yemen and its surroundings.
Iran is now in a difficult position, and cutting off supply lines from it to the Houthis will render them unable to withstand the Yemeni armed forces, which have reorganized their ranks and rearranged their strategies, in addition to the strength of the military coalition supporting legitimacy, and most importantly, the increasing popular will to rid themselves of this gang. The arena is now politically, militarily, and legally prepared to defeat the Houthis. Will we see practical movement in this direction?
