ألمح المستشار الألماني فريدريش ميرتس إلى إمكانية إجراء تعديل وزاري بعد استقالة رئيس المجموعة البرلمانية للاتحاد الديمقراطي المسيحي ينس شبان، وفقًا لمجلة «بوليتيكو». واستقال شبان (السبت) على خلفية الكشف عن إنجابه طفلاً من أم بديلة في الولايات المتحدة.
وتأجير الأرحام محظور في ألمانيا، وقد أكد الاتحاد الديمقراطي المسيحي بقيادة ميرتس، معارضته لهذا الإجراء في وقت سابق من هذا العام، ما عرض وزير الصحة السابق وأحد أبرز شخصيات الحزب، لاتهامات بـ«ازدواجية المعايير».
وقال ميرتس في مقابلة مع قناة ZDF الألمانية، أمس الأحد: قد تكون هذه فرصة لإعادة النظر في تشكيلة الحكومة الفيدرالية، مؤكداً أنه يتحدث عن احتمال، وليس عن خطة.
ولدى سؤاله عن ثورستن فراي، رئيس ديوانه، الذي طرحته قناة ZDF خليفةً محتملًا لشبان، امتنع ميرتس عن تأكيد أي أسماء.
وامتنع ميرتس عن الدفاع عن شبان شخصيًا، قائلاً إنه لم يتوقع أن يكون الغضب «بهذا الحجم». وأضاف: «ربما كان للأمر علاقة بشخصه، وأيضًا بطريقة التواصل».
وأفاد ميرتس بأن شبان أخبره عن الطفل قبل نحو 10 أيام، وطلب منه التكتم على الأمر، وهو ما فعله. وأوضح أن شبان أبلغ الحزب «متأخرًا جدًا»، معتبرًا أن الضرر الذي لحق بمصداقية الحزب أصبح «واضحًا تمامًا، ولهذا السبب تحركنا حينها». وكشفت وسائل إعلام ألمانية، (السبت)، أن ميرتس طلب من شبان الاستقالة.
وعندما سُئل ميرتس عما إذا كان يشعر بالخيانة، اكتفى بالقول إنه لا يريد الخوض في الأمر علنًا. ووصف الأمر بأنه منتهٍ، وشكر شبان على جهوده في الإصلاحات الأخيرة للائتلاف الحاكم. ومن المتوقع أن تناقش قيادة حزب الاتحاد الديمقراطي المسيحي مسألة الخلافة في الأيام القادمة.

Merz also declined to personally defend Spahn, saying he did not expect the outrage to be "this significant." He added: "Perhaps it was related to his person, and also to the way of communication."
Merz reported that Spahn informed him about the child about 10 days ago and asked him to keep the matter confidential, which he did. He clarified that Spahn informed the party "very late," considering that the damage to the party's credibility had become "completely clear, and that is why we acted at that time." German media revealed (on Saturday) that Merz had asked Spahn to resign.
When Merz was asked if he felt betrayed, he simply stated that he did not want to discuss the matter publicly. He described the situation as concluded and thanked Spahn for his efforts in the recent reforms of the ruling coalition. The leadership of the Christian Democratic Union is expected to discuss the succession issue in the coming days.
