فيما يدرس الرئيس الأمريكي خيارات لعملية عسكرية واسعة، أعلنت القيادة المركزية الأمريكية «سنتكوم»، اليوم (الأربعاء)، أن قواتها أعادت توجيه تسع سفن تجارية وعطّلت سفينة واحدة لضمان الامتثال الكامل للحصار.
وعرضت القيادة المركزية الأمريكية بحارة أمريكيين على متن مدمرة مزوّدة بصواريخ موجهة يواصلون مراقبة العمليات في بحر العرب، ضمن جهود القوات الأمريكية لإنفاذ الحصار البحري على إيران.
في الوقت ذاته، قال مسؤولون أمريكيون وإسرائيليون إن الرئيس دونالد ترمب يدرس استئناف عمليات عسكرية واسعة النطاق ضد إيران، موضحين أن أي عملية جديدة قد تشكل تصعيداً كبيراً في المواجهة مع إيران.
وذكر المسؤولون أن واشنطن تواصل تقييم الخطوات القادمة في ظل التوترات المتزايدة بين الجانبين، مشيرين إلى أن إسرائيل قد تشارك في أي عمليات محتملة، لكنها لن تنضم إلى الحرب إلا إذا تعرضت لهجوم إيراني أو طلبت منها الولايات المتحدة ذلك.
وذكر مسؤولون إسرائيليون أن مشاركة إسرائيل في الحرب على إيران ليست محسومة، ولن تنضم للحرب إلا في حال تعرضها لهجوم إيراني أو إذا طلبت منها الولايات المتحدة المشاركة.
وذكر موقع «إكسيوس» أن مسؤولين أمريكيين وإسرائيليين يناقشون إمكانية عقد لقاء بين ترمب ورئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو في البيت الأبيض الأسبوع القادم.
ومن المتوقع أن يتناول اللقاء، حال انعقاده، تطورات الملف الإيراني، وخيارات التعامل مع طهران، إلى جانب ملفات إقليمية أخرى، في ظل استمرار تقييم واشنطن لخطواتها القادمة.
وكان وزير الخارجية الأمريكي ماركو روبيو، قال إن قدرات إيران الصاروخية والمسيّرة التي تُستخدم في الضربات الحالية تمثّل «بالضبط الدرع التقليدي الذي كانت ستختبئ خلفه للمضي في برنامج نووي».
وأضاف روبيو أن هذه القدرة تراجعت بدرجة كبيرة، لكنه اعتبر أن إيران، بعد عام من الآن، كانت ستمتلك عدداً كبيراً من الصواريخ والطائرات المسيّرة، بما يشكل درعاً كان سيمنحها حصانة لفعل ما تريد.
As the American president studies options for a large-scale military operation, the U.S. Central Command "CENTCOM" announced today (Wednesday) that its forces have redirected nine commercial ships and disabled one vessel to ensure full compliance with the blockade.
CENTCOM showcased American sailors aboard a guided-missile destroyer who continue to monitor operations in the Arabian Sea, as part of U.S. efforts to enforce the maritime blockade on Iran.
At the same time, U.S. and Israeli officials stated that President Donald Trump is considering resuming large-scale military operations against Iran, clarifying that any new operation could represent a significant escalation in the confrontation with Iran.
The officials mentioned that Washington continues to assess the next steps amid rising tensions between the two sides, indicating that Israel may participate in any potential operations but will not join the war unless it is attacked by Iran or requested to do so by the United States.
Israeli officials noted that Israel's participation in the war against Iran is not guaranteed, and it will only join the conflict if it is attacked by Iran or if the United States requests its involvement.
The website "Axios" reported that U.S. and Israeli officials are discussing the possibility of a meeting between Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House next week.
If the meeting takes place, it is expected to address developments regarding the Iranian file and options for dealing with Tehran, alongside other regional issues, as Washington continues to evaluate its next steps.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Iran's missile and drone capabilities used in current strikes represent "exactly the conventional shield behind which it would have hidden to proceed with a nuclear program."
Rubio added that this capability has significantly diminished, but he considered that Iran, a year from now, would have a large number of missiles and drones, which would constitute a shield that would grant it immunity to do as it pleases.
