يدشن المنتخب السعودي لألعاب القوى اليوم (الثلاثاء) مشاركته في دورة ألعاب غرب آسيا البارالمبية الخامسة التي تستضيفها سلطنة عمان بمجمع السلطان قابوس، بعد وصوله يوم الأحد بفريق يضم 18 لاعبًا ولاعبة، وعقد الاجتماع الفني للمسابقة تمهيدًا لانطلاق المنافسات.
ويشهد اليوم الأول انطلاق منافسات كرة الهدف على صالة نادي الأمل بمشاركة منتخبات العراق وقطر والبحرين والإمارات واليمن وسوريا وعمان، إلى جانب منافسات الريشة الطائرة وكرة السلة في مجمع السلطان قابوس، فيما يواصل بقية المنتخبات السعودية المشاركة بالدورة توافدها إلى السلطنة.
ووصلت بعثة المنتخب السعودي للسباحة وأخضر رفع الأثقال البارالمبية على أن تنطلق منافسات السباحة غدا الأربعاء على مسبح المجمع.
من جهته زار سفير خادم الحرمين الشريفين لدى سلطنة عمان إبراهيم بن سعد بن بيشان مقر بعثة المنتخبات السعودية البارالمبية، حيث أكد حرص القيادة الحكيمة على دعم ورعاية الرياضيين السعوديين وتشريف المملكة، متمنيًا لهم التوفيق والنجاح في تمثيل بلادهم.
The Saudi national athletics team will kick off its participation today (Tuesday) in the fifth West Asian Paralympic Games hosted by the Sultanate of Oman at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, after arriving on Sunday with a team of 18 male and female athletes. The technical meeting for the competition was held in preparation for the start of the events.
On the first day, the goalball competitions will commence at the Al-Amal Club hall with the participation of teams from Iraq, Qatar, Bahrain, the UAE, Yemen, Syria, and Oman, alongside badminton and basketball competitions at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, while the remaining Saudi teams participating in the games continue to arrive in the Sultanate.
The Saudi delegation for swimming and the Paralympic weightlifting team has arrived, with swimming competitions set to begin tomorrow, Wednesday, at the complex's swimming pool.
For his part, the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Sultanate of Oman, Ibrahim bin Saad bin Bishan, visited the headquarters of the Saudi Paralympic teams' delegation, where he emphasized the leadership's commitment to supporting and caring for Saudi athletes and honoring the Kingdom, wishing them success in representing their country.
