أعلنت أستراليا اليوم (الثلاثاء) رفضها إعادة 34 امرأة وطفلاً يشتبه في صلتهم بتنظيم داعش الإرهابي في سورية.
وقال رئيس الوزراء الأسترالي أنتوني ألبانيز، اليوم، إن الحكومة الأسترالية لن تعيد إلى البلاد مجموعة من 34 امرأة وطفلاً يشتبه في صلتهم بتنظيم «داعش» من سورية.
وامتنع ألبانيز عن التعليق على تقرير يفيد بأن النساء والأطفال الذين تم رفضت بلاده استقبالهم كانوا يحملون جوازات سفر أسترالية، قائلاً لهيئة الإذاعة الأسترالية في ملبورن: «نحن لا نقدم أي دعم على الإطلاق، ولا نعيد هؤلاء الأشخاص إلى البلاد».
وأضاف: «لا نشعر بأي تعاطف، بصراحة، مع الأشخاص الذين سافروا إلى الخارج للمشاركة فيما كان محاولة لإقامة خلافة تهدف إلى تقويض وتدمير أسلوب حياتنا، وكما تقول والدتي: من يهيئ فراشه، ينام عليه».
وأشار ألبانيز إلى أن المنظمة الدولية المعنية برعاية الأطفال «أنقذوا الأطفال» فشلت أمام محاكم أستراليا في إثبات أن الحكومة الأسترالية مسؤولة عن إعادة المواطنين من المخيمات السورية.
وحذر ألبانيز من أن أي محاولة للوصول إلى أستراليا من دون مساعدة الحكومة قد تواجه بملاحقة قانونية.
وكان مسؤولون قد أكدوا أن نساء ومعهن أطفال من 11 عائلة كان مقرراً أن يسافروا من دمشق إلى أستراليا، لكن السلطات السورية أعادتهم أمس إلى مخيم روج بشمال شرقي سورية بسبب مشكلات إجرائية.
وأعادت أستراليا مجموعتين منذ سقوط تنظيم «داعش» عام 2019، مساعدة الحكومة من المخيمات السورية، فيما عاد أستراليون آخرون دون مساعدة حكومية.
وحكمت المحكمة الاتحادية لصالح الحكومة في 2024، فيما قال المدير التنفيذي لـ«أنقذوا الأطفال» في أستراليا، مات تينكلر، «إن الحكومة تتحمل واجباً أخلاقياً، إن لم يكن قانونياً، لإعادة العائلات».

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated today that the Australian government will not bring back a group of 34 women and children suspected of ties to ISIS from Syria.
Albanese refrained from commenting on a report indicating that the women and children whom his country refused to accept held Australian passports, telling the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in Melbourne: “we are not providing any support whatsoever, nor are we bringing these people back to the country.”
He added: “We do not feel any sympathy, frankly, for those who traveled abroad to participate in what was an attempt to establish a caliphate aimed at undermining and destroying our way of life, and as my mother says: those who make their bed, sleep in it.”
Albanese pointed out that the international organization concerned with child welfare, Save the Children, failed in Australian courts to prove that the Australian government is responsible for repatriating citizens from Syrian camps.
Albanese warned that any attempt to reach Australia without government assistance may face legal action.
Officials had confirmed that women with children from 11 families were scheduled to travel from Damascus to Australia, but Syrian authorities returned them yesterday to the Roj camp in northeastern Syria due to procedural issues.
Australia has repatriated two groups since the fall of ISIS in 2019, assisting the government from Syrian camps, while other Australians returned without government assistance.
The Federal Court ruled in favor of the government in 2024, while the executive director of Save the Children in Australia, Matt Tinkler, stated, “The government has a moral obligation, if not a legal one, to bring back the families.”
