كانت هناك بارقة أمل قبل يومين لتقليص مساحة المواجهة بين إيران والثنائي الأمريكي الإسرائيلي لكنها تبخرت بسرعة. حدث ذلك عندما صرح الرئيس الإيراني بأن بلاده ملتزمة بمبادئ حسن الجوار وأن الهجمات على دول الخليج كانت محاولات خاطئة، وأنها سوف تتوقف، ولكن بعد ساعات قليلة من ذلك التصريح عادت الهجمات الإيرانية أكثر كثافة على مواقع مدنية وأهداف اقتصادية حيوية شملت معظم الدول الخليجية، وبهذا تكون الحرب قد دخلت منعطفاً جديداً وخطيراً في بداية أسبوعها الثاني.

معروف عن النظام الإيراني مراوغته ومناوراته وسرعة تنصله من الالتزامات التي يعد بها حتى وهو في أفضل أوضاعه، وقد دأب على ذلك حتى عندما ضاق الخناق عليه وأصبح يواجه شبح الحرب الذي يقترب منه خلال المفاوضات الأخيرة مع أمريكا، ولكن مع بداية الحرب التي اتضح فيها فارق القوة الشاسع بينه وبين الطرف الآخر، كان الاعتقاد أنه سوف يستثمر مواقف وتأثير الدول التي بذلت جهوداً كبيرة لتجنّب الحرب، وأعلنت أنها ضد فكرتها، وأكّدت بشكل قاطع أنها لن تسمح باستخدام أراضيها وأجوائها خلال الحرب، ونفذت تأكيدها بعد نشوبها، وبالطبع نحن نشير الى دول الخليج العربي، وفي مقدمتها المملكة العربية السعودية. لكن إيران اقترفت خطأً استراتيجياً فادحاً عندما أمطرت هذه الدول بصواريخها ومسيّراتها أكثر مما وجهته لإسرائيل، وأكّدت عدم إمكانية الوثوق بها مطلقاً بعدما اعتذرت وأعلنت أنها سوف تتوقف عن هذه الرعونة ثم نكثت وعدها خلال ساعات معدودة.

نعرف أن بنية النظام الإيراني تصدّعت بشكل كبير بعد بدء العاصفة الهجومية الهائلة التي اجتاحتها وحصدت منظومة أصحاب القرار النافذ وعلى رأسهم المرشد علي خامنئي، ونعرف حالة الارتباك التي تجتاح الفريق الذي يدير المشهد الآن، ولكن هذا لا يوجد أي ذريعة له لاستمرار استهدافه دول الجوار التي ما زالت تتمسّك بضبط النفس والتأني وإتاحة الفرصة لإيران كي تتوقف عن هجماتها الممنهجة المستمرة.

حسابات إيران خاطئة تماماً، وقد ذكر ذلك وزير الدفاع السعودي الأمير خالد بن سلمان. وهذه الحسابات الخاطئة ستضطر الدول المتضررة إلى اتخاذ مواقف حازمة وحاسمة إذا استمرت، لأن السيادة الوطنية والأمن القومي لا يمكن التسامح مع من يتعمد انتهاكها والإضرار بها.

There was a glimmer of hope two days ago to reduce the confrontation between Iran and the American-Israeli duo, but it evaporated quickly. This happened when the Iranian president stated that his country is committed to the principles of good neighborliness and that attacks on Gulf countries were misguided attempts, and that they would stop. However, just a few hours after that statement, Iranian attacks intensified on civilian sites and vital economic targets across most Gulf countries, marking a new and dangerous turn in the war as it entered its second week.

The Iranian regime is known for its evasiveness and maneuvers, and its quick renunciation of commitments it makes even when in its best condition. It has persisted in this behavior even when it was cornered and faced the specter of war during recent negotiations with the U.S. However, with the onset of the war, where the vast difference in power between it and the other side became clear, it was believed that it would leverage the positions and influence of countries that made significant efforts to avoid war, declared their opposition to the idea, and firmly stated that they would not allow the use of their territories and airspace during the war, and they upheld this commitment after the war broke out. Of course, we are referring to the Gulf Arab countries, foremost among them Saudi Arabia. But Iran made a grave strategic mistake when it rained down missiles and drones on these countries more than it directed at Israel, confirming that it cannot be trusted at all after it apologized and announced that it would stop this recklessness, only to break its promise within a few hours.

We know that the structure of the Iranian regime has significantly cracked after the onset of the massive offensive storm that swept through it, taking down the decision-making system led by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. We also recognize the state of confusion that is engulfing the team managing the current scene. However, this does not provide any justification for its continued targeting of neighboring countries that still cling to restraint, caution, and giving Iran the opportunity to cease its ongoing systematic attacks.

Iran's calculations are completely wrong, as noted by Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman. These erroneous calculations will force the affected countries to take firm and decisive stances if they continue, because national sovereignty and national security cannot be tolerated when deliberately violated and harmed.
