توفي مدير الإدارة العامة للحماية المدنية بالقاهرة اللواء محمد الشربيني، متأثراً بالإصابات البالغة التي تعرض لها أثناء إشرافه الميداني على عمليات إخماد الحريق الهائل الذي اندلع داخل مخزن أخشاب بمنطقة منشأة ناصر، في حادثة أسفرت عن سقوط عدد من الضحايا والمصابين من رجال الحماية المدنية والمدنيين.

وكان اللواء الشربيني قد أصيب بحالة اختناق وكدمات وإصابات خطيرة خلال مشاركته المباشرة في إدارة عمليات الإطفاء والإنقاذ، بعدما انهارت أجزاء من العقار المشتعل أثناء تعامل قوات الحماية المدنية مع النيران، ليتم نقله إلى المستشفى في حالة حرجة قبل أن يفارق الحياة متأثراً بإصابته.

وشهدت منطقة منشأة ناصر، أمس الثلاثاء، واحداً من أكبر الحرائق التي شهدتها القاهرة خلال الفترة الأخيرة، بعدما اندلعت النيران داخل مخزن أخشاب بعقار في شارع عبدالتواب، وسرعان ما امتدت ألسنة اللهب بسبب طبيعة المواد القابلة للاشتعال، ما أدى إلى انهيار العقار بالكامل أثناء عمليات الإطفاء.

ودفعت الإدارة العامة للحماية المدنية بعدد كبير من سيارات الإطفاء وخزانات المياه والسلالم الهيدروليكية، كما فرضت الأجهزة الأمنية كردوناً أمنياً حول موقع الحريق، وتم فصل المرافق وإخلاء العقارات المجاورة حفاظاً على سلامة السكان، بينما استمرت جهود الإخماد لساعات متواصلة حتى تمت السيطرة الكاملة على النيران.

وأسفر الحريق عن استشهاد ضابط وفرد أمن من قوات الحماية المدنية، إضافة إلى سقوط نحو 18 مصاباً نُقِلوا إلى المستشفيات.

كما باشرت النيابة العامة تحقيقاتها، وكلفت المعمل الجنائي بمعاينة موقع الحريق لتحديد أسباب اندلاع النيران وملابسات انهيار العقار.

وأثارت وفاة اللواء محمد الشربيني حالة من الحزن داخل الأوساط الأمنية، باعتباره أحد القيادات التي عُرفت بحضورها الميداني الدائم في مواقع الحوادث والحرائق الكبرى، إذ ظل حتى اللحظات الأخيرة يؤدي واجبه في حماية الأرواح والممتلكات، ليُسجل اسمه ضمن رجال الواجب الذين دفعوا حياتهم ثمناً لأداء رسالتهم في خدمة الوطن.

The Director of the General Administration for Civil Protection in Cairo, Major General Mohamed Al-Sharbin, passed away due to the severe injuries he sustained while overseeing the field operations to extinguish the massive fire that broke out inside a wood storage facility in the Manshiyet Nasser area. This incident resulted in several casualties and injuries among civil protection personnel and civilians.

Major General Al-Sharbin suffered from suffocation, bruises, and serious injuries during his direct participation in managing the firefighting and rescue operations, after parts of the burning building collapsed while the civil protection forces were dealing with the flames. He was transferred to the hospital in critical condition before succumbing to his injuries.

The Manshiyet Nasser area witnessed one of the largest fires in Cairo in recent times yesterday, Tuesday, when flames erupted inside a wood storage facility in a building on Abdel Tawab Street. The flames quickly spread due to the nature of the flammable materials, leading to the complete collapse of the building during the firefighting operations.

The General Administration for Civil Protection dispatched a large number of fire trucks, water tanks, and hydraulic ladders, while security forces established a security cordon around the fire site. Utilities were cut off, and neighboring buildings were evacuated to ensure the safety of residents, while efforts to extinguish the fire continued for several hours until full control was achieved.

The fire resulted in the martyrdom of an officer and a security personnel from the civil protection forces, in addition to approximately 18 injured individuals who were transported to hospitals.

The Public Prosecution has also begun its investigations and tasked the forensic laboratory with examining the fire site to determine the causes of the fire outbreak and the circumstances surrounding the building's collapse.

The death of Major General Mohamed Al-Sharbin has caused a wave of sorrow within security circles, as he was known for his constant field presence at major accident and fire sites. He continued to fulfill his duty in protecting lives and property until the last moments, earning a place among the men of duty who paid with their lives to fulfill their mission in serving the nation.
