أصدرت المفوضية الأوروبية قراراً بفرض عقوبات مالية جديدة بقيمة إجمالية بلغت 890 مليون يورو على عملاق التكنولوجيا الأمريكي (قوقل)، على خلفية خرق القواعد التنظيمية الخاصة بالأسواق الرقمية في التكتل الأوروبي.
وأوضحت الجهات التنظيمية الأوروبية أن الغرامة تنقسم إلى جزءين؛ الأول بقيمة 460 مليون يورو نتيجة منح محرك البحث التابع للشركة أفضلية وميزات تفضيلية لخدماتها الخاصة (مثل التسوق والفنادق والرحلات) على حساب الخدمات المنافسة في نتائج البحث.
أما الجزء الثاني فيقدر بـ430 مليون يورو، فيتعلق بمخالفات مرتبطة بمتجر التطبيقات (Google Play)، لفرض قيود تمنع مطوري التطبيقات من توجيه المستخدمين نحو عروض أو خيارات دفع أرخص خارج منصة قوقل.
يأتي هذا القرار في وقت حساس تتصاعد فيه الضغوط عبر الأطلسي والتهديدات المتبادلة بالرسوم الجمركية من الإدارة الأمريكية بقيادة دونالد ترامب ضد السياسات الضريبية والتنظيمية الأوروبية الموجهة لشركات التقنية الكبرى.
ومنحت بروكسل شركة (قوقل) مهلة مدتها 60 يوماً للامتثال وتعديل ممارساتها، وإلا فإنها ستواجه غرامات يومية دورية قد تصل إلى 5% من إجمالي مبيعاتها العالمية.
من جانبها، انتقدت (قوقل) هذه الإجراءات، حيث اعتبر رئيس الشؤون العالمية في الشركة كين ووكر، أن هذه القيود تضر بتصميم المنتجات وخبرة المستخدمين الأوروبيين ولا تعكس منافسة عادلة.
The European Commission has issued a decision to impose new financial sanctions totaling 890 million euros on the American technology giant (Google), following violations of regulatory rules concerning digital markets in the European bloc.
The European regulatory authorities clarified that the fine is divided into two parts; the first part amounts to 460 million euros due to the company's search engine granting preferential treatment and advantages to its own services (such as shopping, hotels, and travel) at the expense of competing services in search results.
The second part is estimated at 430 million euros, related to violations associated with the app store (Google Play), for imposing restrictions that prevent app developers from directing users to cheaper offers or payment options outside the Google platform.
This decision comes at a sensitive time when transatlantic pressures are rising and mutual threats of tariffs from the U.S. administration led by Donald Trump against European tax and regulatory policies targeting major tech companies are increasing.
Brussels has given (Google) a 60-day deadline to comply and amend its practices, or it will face daily periodic fines that could reach 5% of its total global sales.
For its part, (Google) criticized these measures, with the company's Global Affairs President, Kent Walker, stating that these restrictions harm product design and the experience of European users and do not reflect fair competition.
