كشفت صحيفة «فايننشال تايمز» أن مسؤولين يعملون في مجلس السلام في غزة الذي أنشأه الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب يبحثون إمكانية إطلاق عملة مشفرة مستقرة (Stablecoin) في القطاع، في محاولة لإعادة تشكيل الاقتصاد الفلسطيني الذي دمرته الحرب الإسرائيلية.
وذكرت الصحيفة أن المحادثات بشأن العملة المشفرة ما تزال في مرحلة أولية، وأن الكثير من التفاصيل التنفيذية حول هذه العملة المشفرة ما تزال غامضة.
ويقصد بالعملات المشفرة المستقرة نوع من العملات الرقمية المرتبطة قيمتها بعملة ورقية عالمية مثل الدولار.
وحسب الصحيفة البريطانية فإن المسؤولين في مجلس السلام ناقشوا فكرة العملة المشفرة المستقرة، نظراً لأن النظام المصرفي التقليدي وأنظمة المدفوعات المعتادة في قطاع غزة تضررت بشدة نتيجة الحرب.
ونقلت الصحيفة عن مصدر مطلع قوله: إنه من المنتظر أن يتم ربط العملة المستقرة في غزة بالدولار، وأن تقوم شركات فلسطينية وخليجية لها خبرة في مجال العملات الرقمية بدعم مشروع العملة المشفرة.
وأوضح أحد المصادر أن هذه العملة المشفرة المستقر لن تكون عملة غزة أو عملة فلسطينية جديدة، وإنما ستكون وسيلة لأهل غزة لإجراء المعاملات رقمياً.
وأفادت «فايننشال تايمز» بأن رجل الأعمال الإسرائيلي ليران تانكمان، وهو ضابط احتياط سابق في الجيش الإسرائيلي، يقود الجهود لتطبيق فكرة العملة المشفرة في غزة، إذ يعمل حالياً مستشاراً متطوعاً في مجلس السلام.
ومن بين الأطراف المنخرطة في هذا المشروع اللجنة الوطنية لإدارة قطاع غزة، المكونة من 14 عضواً، فضلاً عن مكتب الممثل السامي لغزة في مجلس السلام نيكولاي ملادينوف.
The "Financial Times" revealed that officials working in the Gaza Peace Council, established by U.S. President Donald Trump, are exploring the possibility of launching a stable cryptocurrency in the sector, in an attempt to reshape the Palestinian economy that has been devastated by the Israeli war.
The newspaper mentioned that discussions regarding the cryptocurrency are still in the preliminary stage, and many of the operational details about this cryptocurrency remain unclear.
Stablecoins refer to a type of digital currency whose value is linked to a global fiat currency such as the dollar.
According to the British newspaper, officials in the Peace Council discussed the idea of the stable cryptocurrency, given that the traditional banking system and usual payment systems in the Gaza Strip have been severely damaged due to the war.
The newspaper quoted an informed source as saying that the stable currency in Gaza is expected to be linked to the dollar, and that Palestinian and Gulf companies with experience in the field of digital currencies will support the cryptocurrency project.
One source clarified that this stable cryptocurrency will not be Gaza's currency or a new Palestinian currency, but rather a means for the people of Gaza to conduct transactions digitally.
The "Financial Times" reported that Israeli businessman Liran Tankman, a former reserve officer in the Israeli army, is leading the efforts to implement the cryptocurrency idea in Gaza, as he is currently serving as a volunteer advisor in the Peace Council.
Among the parties involved in this project is the National Committee for the Management of the Gaza Strip, consisting of 14 members, as well as the office of the UN Special Coordinator for Gaza in the Peace Council, Nikolai Mladenov.
