أجرى وزير الخارجية المصري بدر عبدالعاطي، مباحثات مع وزير خارجية الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية ماركو روبيو، أمس (الثلاثاء)، في العاصمة الأمريكية واشنطن، بحثا فيها سبل تعزيز الشراكة الإستراتيجية بين مصر والولايات المتحدة، والتشاور حول مستجدات الأوضاع في الشرق الأوسط وعدد من الملفات الإقليمية المهمة، وعلى رأسها التصعيد العسكري في المنطقة، والملف الفلسطيني، والأزمة في السودان، ولبنان، والقرن الأفريقي، إضافة إلى ملف الأمن المائي المصري.
ووفقاً لبيان رسمي للخارجية المصرية، استعرض الوزيران مجمل العلاقات الثنائية بين البلدين، وأشادا بعمق الشراكة الإستراتيجية التي تمتد لأكثر من أربعة عقود، وما تحققه من مصالح مشتركة في مختلف المجالات، ودورها في دعم الأمن والاستقرار الإقليمي، كما أعربا عن التطلع لتطوير هذه العلاقات بما يحقق المنفعة المشتركة للبلدين.
وعلى الصعيد الاقتصادي، أكد عبدالعاطي أهمية تعزيز التعاون التجاري والاستثماري، مستعرضاً الفرص الواعدة التي توفرها مصر لجذب استثمارات أمريكية جديدة في مختلف القطاعات.
وأعرب وزير الخارجية المصري عن تطلع مصر لعقد الاجتماع الثاني للمفوضية الاقتصادية المشتركة، واستضافة القاهرة النسخة الثانية من «المنتدى الاقتصادي المصري الأمريكي» بالتنسيق مع غرفة التجارة الأمريكية خلال يونيو القادم، بهدف زيادة حجم الشراكات الاقتصادية وجذب المزيد من الشركات الأمريكية.
وفي ما يتعلق بالمستجدات الإقليمية، تناول الجانبان الأوضاع الراهنة في المنطقة، ومسار المفاوضات بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران والجهود المبذولة لسد الفجوات القائمة بما يحقق الأمن والاستقرار، كما أطلع الوزير الأمريكي نظيره المصري على آخر التطورات في هذا الشأن.
وشدد عبدالعاطي على الموقف المصري بشأن القضية الفلسطينية، خصوصاً التطورات في قطاع غزة وتنفيذ استحقاقات المرحلة الثانية من خطة الرئيس الأمريكي، إلى جانب رفض الانتهاكات الإسرائيلية المستمرة في الضفة الغربية.
وفي ملف السودان أكد عبدالعاطي ضرورة الحفاظ على وحدة السودان وسلامة أراضيه، ودعم مؤسساته الوطنية، وإطلاق مسار سياسي سوداني خالص لوضع حد للصراع، واتفق الوزيران على أهمية التوصل إلى هدنة إنسانية تمهد لوقف مستدام لإطلاق النار وتسهيل تدفق المساعدات الإنسانية.
أما في ما يتعلق بلبنان فقد شدد الوزير المصري على أهمية احترام وحدة وسلامة الأراضي اللبنانية، وتمكين مؤسساته الوطنية وعلى رأسها الجيش، وتحقيق وقف إطلاق النار ووقف الاعتداءات الإسرائيلية.
وتطرق اللقاء إلى الأوضاع في منطقة القرن الأفريقي وأكد عبدالعاطي على ثوابت الموقف المصري باحترام وحدة وسيادة دول المنطقة، خصوصاً الصومال وإريتريا، كما جدد التأكيد على أن نهر النيل قضية وجودية لمصر، مشدداً على التزام مصر بالتعاون وفق مبادئ القانون الدولي، ورفض أي إجراءات أحادية على الأنهار العابرة للحدود.
وأكد المتحدث باسم الخارجية المصرية أن الوزير الأمريكي ماركو روبيو أشاد بعمق العلاقات الإستراتيجية بين مصر والولايات المتحدة، وثمن الجهود المصرية في دعم الأمن والاستقرار الإقليمي، واتفق الوزيران على استمرار التشاور والتنسيق الوثيق خلال الفترة القادمة حول مختلف القضايا الإقليمية والدولية.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelatty, held discussions with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio yesterday (Tuesday) in the U.S. capital, Washington, where they explored ways to enhance the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States, and consulted on the latest developments in the Middle East and several important regional files, foremost among them the military escalation in the region, the Palestinian issue, the crisis in Sudan, Lebanon, the Horn of Africa, in addition to the file of Egyptian water security.
According to an official statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the two ministers reviewed the overall bilateral relations between the two countries, praising the depth of the strategic partnership that has lasted for more than four decades and the mutual interests it achieves in various fields, as well as its role in supporting regional security and stability. They also expressed their aspiration to develop these relations to achieve mutual benefit for both countries.
On the economic front, Abdelatty emphasized the importance of enhancing trade and investment cooperation, reviewing the promising opportunities that Egypt offers to attract new American investments in various sectors.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister expressed Egypt's eagerness to hold the second meeting of the Joint Economic Commission and to host the second edition of the "Egyptian-American Economic Forum" in coordination with the American Chamber of Commerce during next June, with the aim of increasing the volume of economic partnerships and attracting more American companies.
Regarding regional developments, the two sides discussed the current situation in the region, the course of negotiations between the United States and Iran, and the efforts made to bridge existing gaps to achieve security and stability. The American minister also briefed his Egyptian counterpart on the latest developments in this regard.
Abdelatty stressed the Egyptian position on the Palestinian issue, particularly the developments in the Gaza Strip and the implementation of the second phase requirements of the American president's plan, in addition to rejecting the ongoing Israeli violations in the West Bank.
On the Sudan file, Abdelatty emphasized the necessity of preserving Sudan's unity and territorial integrity, supporting its national institutions, and launching a purely Sudanese political path to put an end to the conflict. The two ministers agreed on the importance of reaching a humanitarian truce that paves the way for a sustainable ceasefire and facilitates the flow of humanitarian aid.
As for Lebanon, the Egyptian minister stressed the importance of respecting the unity and territorial integrity of Lebanon, empowering its national institutions, foremost of which is the army, and achieving a ceasefire and stopping Israeli assaults.
The meeting also touched on the situation in the Horn of Africa, and Abdelatty reaffirmed the constants of the Egyptian position regarding respecting the unity and sovereignty of the countries in the region, particularly Somalia and Eritrea. He also reiterated that the Nile River is an existential issue for Egypt, emphasizing Egypt's commitment to cooperate according to the principles of international law and rejecting any unilateral actions on transboundary rivers.
The spokesperson for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry confirmed that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio praised the depth of the strategic relations between Egypt and the United States, commending Egypt's efforts in supporting regional security and stability. The two ministers agreed to continue close consultation and coordination in the coming period on various regional and international issues.
