كشفت «واشنطن بوست» أن الولايات المتحدة تستعد لإرسال آلاف الجنود الإضافيين إلى الشرق الأوسط خلال الأيام القادمة، في إطار مساعي إدارة الرئيس دونالد ترمب للضغط على إيران من أجل التوصل إلى اتفاق.

وأوضح المسؤولون أن القوات التي يجري نشرها في المنطقة تشمل نحو 6,000 جندي على متن حاملة الطائرات الأمريكية يو إس إس جورج إتش. دبليو. بوش وسفن حربية عدة مرافقة لها، بحسب «واشنطن بوست».
وتوقع المسؤولون أن يصل نحو 4,200 جندي آخرين ضمن مجموعة الجاهزية البرمائية «بوكسر» وقوة مشاة البحرية المكلفة معها، وحدة المشاة البحرية الاستكشافية الحادية عشرة، نهاية الشهر الجاري، علماً أن الهدنة المؤقتة مع إيران تنتهي في 22 أبريل.
قوة احتياطية حال ساءت الأمور
وقال الأميرال المتقاعد في البحرية الأمريكية عميد مركز الاستراتيجية البحرية في شمال ولاية فرجينيا جيمس فوغو: إن وصول سفن حربية إضافية سيزيد الضغوط على طهران. وأضاف أنه «كلما زادت الأدوات التي تملكها في حقيبتك، زادت الخيارات المتاحة أمامك»، واصفاً إرسال قوات إضافية بأنه «قوة احتياطية في حال ساءت الأمور».
احتمال تنفيذ ضربات جديدة
وكانت القيادة المركزية الأمريكية أعلنت في وقت سابق اليوم أن الحصار الأمريكي للموانئ الإيرانية، الذي دخل حيّز التنفيذ الاثنين الماضي، شمل نشر نحو 10 آلاف جندي أمريكي، وأكثر من 12 سفينة حربية تابعة للبحرية متمركزة في خليج عُمان وبحر العرب، إضافة إلى مجموعة من الطائرات المقاتلة والطائرات المسيّرة لمراقبة السفن التجارية في المنطقة.

Officials explained that the forces being deployed to the region include about 6,000 troops aboard the American aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush and several accompanying warships, according to The Washington Post.
They expect that around 4,200 additional troops will arrive as part of the amphibious readiness group "Boxer" and the assigned Marine Corps unit, the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, by the end of this month, noting that the temporary ceasefire with Iran ends on April 22.

The U.S. Central Command announced earlier today that the American blockade of Iranian ports, which went into effect last Monday, included the deployment of about 10,000 American troops and more than 12 Navy warships stationed in the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea, in addition to a group of fighter jets and drones to monitor commercial ships in the region.
